Raile Red Angus Annual Online Bull Sale 2024

Welcome to this year’s Raile Red Angus bull sale. First off, we want to thank everyone from last year who viewed, bid, and purchased bulls. It means a lot to us, and we do not take your trust or willingness to work with a new breeder for granted.

For this year we will be doing the same sale online sale format as last year. We feel it gives the buyer plenty of time and to not feel rushed when purchasing the right animal for their operation. The sale will be online-only hosted by DVAuction. Bidding opens on April 2 at 10:00 am, followed by bids closing on April 4 at 5:00 pm, and an extended bidding period until no bids have been placed for 5 minutes. We really encourage everyone to visit the farm to view the offering in person. Doing so will get you $100 off your purchase, if you come before the end of the sale.

We try to offer you as many tools as we can to help you make your genetic selection. All of the bulls in the sale will have genomic-enhanced EPDs and will have been carcass ultra-sounded and all performance records available. The EPDs listed in the catalog are not genomic enhanced. We are waiting for DNA results back from the Association. As soon as we have them we will post a spreadsheet with them on the website and to the auction page. If you have questions, please call.

The ADG test period was taken from weaning weight on November 3, 2023 - February 22, 2024. This gives an accurate representation of what the bulls did through all the weather conditions and challenges they might have endured. The bulls get fed right alongside our commercial steer pen, so they are developed in a responsible, cost-effective way.

We want to hear how the bulls are working or not working. Your feedback helps us improve and move both yours and our programs forward. We cull the bull group down two times, at weaning, and in February for soundness, structure, disposition, and performance. If we wouldn’t use the bull on our commercial herd, we won’t offer them for you to use on yours.

Sale order is catalog order. A supplement sheet will be available prior to the sale on www.raileredangus.com and the auction page prior to the sale. Supplement sheet will include carcass ultrasound data, scrotal circumference, current weights and average daily gain.

FEEDING AND DELIVERY

Bulls are kept free of charge until May. Free delivery is offered in South Dakota or up to 300 miles from Eureka SD. Deliveries beyond that at the cost of the buyer. We will assist in any way possible to get your bull to you.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms of the sale are cash. Bidding will be available online at www.dvauction.com. Please register early so you are approved as a bidder in plenty of time before the sale. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. Any person attending the sale or ranch to view bulls does so at his/her own risk. Neither the owners, nor any person connected with this sale assumes any liability, legal or otherwise. Cattle will sell according to the terms and conditions suggested by the Red Angus Association of America.

All bulls in this sale are guaranteed to pass a breeding soundness and health examination. Bulls are guaranteed breeders their first breeding season. In the event that a bull does not pass or is injured while at Raile Red Angus, a bull of equal value will be given or your money back. Once the bull leaves Raile Red Angus, he is the buyer’s responsibility.

SEMEN INTEREST

If Raile Red Angus chooses to sample a bull. It will be acknowledged before the sale and will be at our cost and the buyers convenience.

These Stockman sons are all born the end of March-April 2022, sired by Stockman H230 who was a bull we purchased from Biebers at lot 14. We used him for cleanup on the purebred herd. With 7 EPDS in the top 30% of the breed, 32k stockman is an all-purpose kind of bull. Tied in with the Justice 573 cow that has put a bunch of daughters and granddaughters back into our program, this bull will get it done for you on cows and heifers. Maternal sibling to our 210G fatal attraction donor cow we flushed this spring.

This is a 1B bull coming out of the Redeem cow line from the Leland program. One of the first purebred heifers I ever purchased. Throw in some Fatal Attraction on the bottom side, who has been used heavily here on the commercial side of the operation with great success. I would expect good deep-bodied females from this guy, and some good growth. 106k comes in as the 2nd heaviest bull in the offering. If you have some older bigger framed heifers you want to breed, I wouldn’t be afraid to use him.

Starting the yearling division off, 1068L is an ET calf that offers a ton of growth, depth of body, length, and width. This was an embryo we bought from Sam Twedt. The 245 Flo-Marie cow is still putting sons into their sale and across the country. Our embryo program has been giving us a lot of daughters, so we are excited to see what comes down the line in the next few years. The main reason for us to start doing ET work was to try and get the best daughters from some of the best cows across the country. This bull will make some soggy feeder steers that anyone would like to feed.

This Rolling Deep, first calf heifer, did her job right here. If you have been watching a lot of Red Angus sales this spring, you should have noticed that these Relentless sons have been towards the top of the sales for many breeders. Yet, being a calving ease option, they offer a lot of shape and extra muscle, along with a great EPD package. Relentless semen is getting tough to come by so don’t miss this opportunity of owning a son who was a fan favorite in our pasture this summer. This bull ratioed an 89 at birth to a 112 at weaning!

Sim-Angus buyers look here, the next two lots are sired by KBHR All American. If you are trying to produce pounds and calves that feedlots want to feed, I don’t think you can beat a good hybrid bull. If you are into the big framed, wide-topped kind of cattle, this one will work for you. His dam is an Epic cow I bought off of the Leddy Dispersal, who has a 104 MPPA at 10 years of age. Last of the Cowboy Ways, this is a bull out of the 210G Justice, a cow we flushed last spring. We think a lot of her. She has produced a couple of great prodigies in her young career. Last year’s high-selling yearling bull and a great daughter who is working on her second calf right now, looks to be at the top of the contemporary group as well. They just go out and get their jobs done! If you notice 210G is a little behind on some weights. With all the flush work, 210G got a foot injury in the squeeze chute right before turnout and it bothered her for quite some time which I think is what held this calf back. Since the new year this calf has done nothing but grow.

Another ET calf with some outcross genetics for our program. This bull’s dam is a great-looking cow from Ludvigson Stock Farms. There are a couple of good sisters from this flush in the replacement pen we are excited about also. These calves come with smooth front shoulders, depth of body, and easy flesh ability. This calf has done nothing but impress us since weaning. This is one of the younger calves in the sale. He is out of a Maximus son we purchased from Biebers and used to clean up the cows.
