All cattle sell under the recommended Sale Terms and Conditions of the American Simmental Association and are available by request.
BUYER DISCOUNT & RISK
Volume discount - 3% discount on 3 bulls or more purchased. We will be glad to take your bulls home and feed them for free until April 1. A $3/day fee will be charged to feed the bulls after that. All bulls taken home are at the buyers risk for injury or death and we strongly suggest that you have insurance on your purchases.
SEMEN INTEREST
We will be selling 100% possession on all bulls sold. 1/3 Semen interest will be retained by the breeder on all lots. Collection to be done at the seller’s expense and buyers convenience.

TRUCKING
Free bull delivery within 300 miles of the farm, beginning April 1. Anything beyond the 300 mile radius is the responsibility of the buyer. All bulls will be fertility tested prior to delivery and guaranteed as breeders.

We would like to invite you to our 1st Annual Production Sale. Many of you know that we acquired the mature cows and herd bulls from Bata Brothers Simmentals (BBS) in December of 2023. We have our first calving and breeding seasons with the purebred herd under our belt and are excited to bring a strong offering of continued BBS genetics to our first sale. First and foremost, we would like to extend a big thank you to the Bata Brothers for their mentorship throughout the past year as our business mission has evolved.
Our experience with cattle runs deep as our family has a 30+ year history of owning and managing commercial feeder cattle prior to our current purebred Simmental herd. We have been utilizing artificial insemination in our herd for over 5 years now and it’s something we will continue to incorporate with the purebred herd. We have come to appreciate the access to superior genetics to proven sires for overall genetic enhancement. While the current offering includes many proven sires utilized heavily by BBS, you may notice a handful of sires not normally in the lineup. Although you may not be familiar with them, we guarantee they’ll work right alongside the tried and true performance genetics you have come to know and love. The well-established BBS genetics will continue to grow and serve as the foundation for generations of Simmental cattle to come on our ranch as well as yours. Ranked 5/51 with a weaning ratio of 113. This calf might just be the slam dunk you are looking for - EPDs in the top 1% in WW, YW, ADG, and MWW while also providing some calving ease. Dam is a first calf heifer out of the great Z7 donor cow Bata’s used heavily in their embryo transfer program. She bred back early this spring to RF Caliber - to say we’re excited about that mating is an understatement!

Little bit of a full-circle moment here. Both the dam and sire were purchased while we still operated our commercial herd. The sire, an RF Red Absolute bull we purchased from BBS in 2018 and a Harvie Red Summit dam we purchased from Ellingson Simmentals in 2023. While he may be one of the youngest bulls in the offering, he still came in ranking 4/51 at weaning with a ratio of 113. We’re pretty happy with that and we think you will be too!

I feel like I’m on repeat but here’s another Hard Impact bull out of a first calf Lawmaker heifer. Ranking 16/51 at weaning with a ratio of 108. Top 5% for WW and YW. M435 has a well balanced pedigree combining calving ease and growth. Well the first of many footnote writings has come to an end. If anyone has stuck with me through them all, I hope it’s Joe Bata. He set the bar high and I’ll take any pointers he may have!

to our 28th year of selling bulls in Rugby! While our numbers are few this year, the quality of our offering is high. As Silver Dollar Simmentals bought our cow herd and top heifers in our dispersal it was an easy decision to sell these bulls with them in their 1st annual sale. We thank them for the confidence and carrying on of the genetics we have built over the years. Our ranches are just 5 miles apart, so be sure to come check out all the bulls prior to the sale.
The coming two-year-old bulls are a group that we held back as they were too young to sell in last year’s sale. Sired by our top herd sires, elite AI bulls, and very best cows. They were developed with the rest of the bulls last winter, then on grass around the farm this summer. All are virgin bulls, and all have passed their semen test at Golden Valley Vet Clinic prior to the sale. The yearling bulls are the next generation of BBS owned by Mark’s boys. Yes, there are a few cows still roaming around the place for 4-H. Some unique new genetics for our long-time customers. Thank you for the confidence and trust in BBS over the years. DELIVERY: We would prefer bulls be picked up at the sale or deliver them soon afterward. If picked up at sale there will be a $200 discount. If you cannot take your bulls right away, we will keep them until April 1st with a $400 charge at the sale to insure them. If you prefer to have your own insurance, that fee will be refunded.

The first calf crop for the Bata boys. We bought a top end group of heifers at the renowned R Plus dispersal in SK. These heifers started a 4-H project and here we are selling bulls. His dam known as Harry Potter is a very clean made female. Gives this bull a showy look. True North calved really easy for us on first calvers with lots of vigor at birth. Owned by Hudson Bata
