Paper Lantern

Deriving from natural pattern of Fibonacci spiral in red cabbage as its concept (01), experiments from paper to moulding inspired its digital form. As the form developed, triangular panels were customised as its skin derived from the spiraling pattern.

LED lights were installed on the inner layer of the skin and fully functioned with switches. The project interface was to be held as a cup, with another hand on its bottom.

Mad Max Interpretation Centre This project was to design an interpretation centre for Mad Max film utilizing the underground carpark on South Lawn, University of Melbourne. The agenda of my project was to design a space where users will experience the dynamic and tense atmosphere derived from the 'reverse rotation' analogy of Mad Max (right image) by designing a smooth but dynamic curves that provides an access through the underground carpark and allows users to sit in positions that gives them tension.

2

1

Because the car is going too fast, our eyes cannot keep up with its motion and results in us seeing the wheels rotating in reverse (blue arrows).

This analogy takes the car wheels' rotation when they are going extremely fast (as seen in the film).

A Pavilion to keep ‘Secrets’ LIGHT STUDY DIAGRAM 10am Sunlight - LEFT Noon - CENTER 3pm Sunlight - RIGHT

Three watercolor sketches of shadows and lights on the design at various times in a day for each spaces in the design, which brings different experiences to the users. The design wants the users to experience being secluded - from the outside world, and to focus only on themselves, the ground and the surrounding nature. The secret is to find yourself and recognizing the nature around the island in the midst of a busy city life.

Intern Projects -

A-Team is a creative consultant specializes in tourism and recreation park projects. During my time as an intern, I assisted on conceptualizing a local recreation park project which included a children science museum (image 01), created its branding 'Groveland' (image 02) and tackled on several in-house layout design projects for an indoor preschool (image 03) and a customer service facility (image 04). Groveland is currently on its construction phase since July 2015; the preschool is still on its planning stage and the customer service was due to finish last July 2015.

Studio Air -

03

Studio Air asked us to design a space on air; not touching the ground, anywhere along the Merri Creek river.

04

My tackle on the brief focused on geometric tensility to create a flexible and dynamic space that changed across seasons as means to appreciate the natural ecosystem along the Merri Creek, especially around CERES Community Environment Park. Experiments were mostly around single surface iterations with anchor points dragged to reach maximum tensile capacity. Thus, creating a single surface shelter with maximum capacity to sustain load from falling leaves and wind.
