Chicago, November, 04, 2010—Columbia College Chicago is heading towards a new future lead by freshman students in 2010. Students Sara King, Matt Fellows, and Lisa Burning, as of midnight November 3rd launched Columbia College’s first professional social networking site. It is claimed that the professional social networking site named Kontact will enhance the student experience at Columbia College Chicago. The idea of Kontact was first developed during King, Fellows, and Burning’s Introduction to Market Research Class as an assignment. At first the students were not thrilled about the idea of adding yet another social networking site to the plethora of social networking sites they used. To the students the idea of social media had been played out. During an interview with the students Fellow’s said, “We had to work with what we were given, and being an A student I knew I had to put my all into making a social networking site for Columbia. The site had to be one I would consider using.” All semester King, Fellows, and Burning worked relentlessly to perfect the idea of Kontact through their research. After many ideas approved and nixed by the team there was a final product idea. The team of students then set out to distribute surveys asking Columbia Students about Kontact’s features such as, students to student employment requests, resume uploading, copywriting links, school event notifications, and student to student contact. The results of the survey came back strong, not only did Columbia College students want a professional social networking site exclusively for Columbia College students, they said they needed it.

As a result of King, Fellows, and Burning’s hard work there is now the one day old Kontact, Columbia College Chicago’s professional social networking site. This site is hoped to help ease the stress of college, and better the Columbia College Chicago student’s experience. Go ahead check it out at www.colume.edu/Kontact. If there are any questions that the online tutorial does not answer any computer lab on Columbia College campus will be able to answer your questions about Kontact. ###
