The society is organized so that just the strict necessary is owned, as clothes, the rest is shared or at a neighbourhood level, as a washing-machine, or at a city service, as cars and bikes.
Each person has a specific amount of volume of things he can own. Around 0,6 m3 for an adult person.
The “volume� depends on the age and the stature of the person, more the person is tall more volume he can own ( bigger the clothes etc. will be)
Products can be trashed and so removed definitely from the box but it caused the definitive lost of the respective volume. Still usable objects can to be exchanged or given as a gift.
All the exchange are controlled electronically, with a sort of credit card that checks the availability of “volume� on each account.
The volume for food is a smaller volume apart updated every week. This volume can not be used for other purchasable and gets lost at the end of the week if not used.
If there is no gain on energy produced through oil, oil will quickly become an obsolete and to difficult to extract resources. That means that the new society will put much more effort in finding alternative solution for the energy production.
People will not work for owning money but because they feel part of a society and in consequence they feel useful. If people love what they do also the productivity will increase.
Disposable objects will tend to disappear, it’s not convenient to lose volume for a one time use.
Quality and not quantity will define the market, is in every bodies interest to have long lasting, durable and efficient products.
Houses are not possessed. People are tending to move always more during their lives from one country to an other. Houses will be assigned for each necessity from time to time.
The Volume Economy is the new religion: people should belong to the community, trust in each other, in the institution and believe in the system.
The industrial production will tend a produce always smaller pieces so that the product have a “volume� convenience, but that would bring also to a reduction of resource use.
If possible objects will be used more and more times. Packaging will tend to disappear or be substitute by reusable one (like refillable glass bottle).
