Shelly-Ann's fashion journey started many years ago as a model. She was in a local show, Synergy Super Model, Season 2 ( 2007). While modelling, she was pursuing her law degree in her home country, Trinidad and Tobago. Shelly-Ann, after completion of her studies (2011) became a State Prosecutor. She worked in the system for three years. She decided to transition from Criminal Law, after the passing of a renowned Trinidad and Tobago, prosecutor, who was her mentor. In a quest to becoming more satisfied professionally and personally she crossed borders and journeyed to the UK (2014) for the first time, to study a Masters in International Business and Emerging Market at the University of Edinburgh. Shelly-Ann the Lawyer and entrepreneur will soon be Dr. Gajdhar, she is now pursuing her PhD.

When I went to Berlin/London Fashion Week, Ethical Tradeshow, I realised there was a space for our idea. Justus and I turned from students to business partners, making a dream a reality. We went from research to implementation. We decided to focus on the upcycle of jackets. To develop our first collection, I decided to come back to my roots and incorporate the Caribbean creativity into this upcycle initiative. The director of Fashion Focus, Michael Christopher, a local magazine was instrumental in the network building and collaboration with four local designers. The One Memoir process started with 18 jackets donated from Shelter Scotland which I brought to Trinidad and Tobago. The designers each worked on different jackets and were challenged to reuse waste materials but maintain the structure of the jacket for the European market and weather. We met with the designers three times and the project was completed in six weeks.
