It s loud lipsticks, crazy glasses and big hair. It’s being unapologetic about the skin I’m in and inspiring others to do the same. As a young woman, especially a young black woman in today’s society, I can’t ignore the message that’s been promoted for women like me. We’ve been taught to hate our funk, but at FE, we love it.” “ '
FE is a brand dedicated to changing the face of what is widely regarded as acceptable fashion.

I have a love for fashion and I am passionate about design.

Fashion Evolution started quite by accident. “I created a Facebook page one day and used the platform as a past time to express my love for makeup and Fashion. As the years passed it evolved into a brand and 5 years later, here I am!”

She attributes her success to unwavering faith in God, hard work, determination and passion. Asked how she keeps herself motivated through the trying times, she said her belief in a higher power encourages her to keep her eyes trained on the light at the end of the tunnel.

Asked how her designs are conceptualized, Janine said unlike many others in her field, she does not sketch. Instead, she fiddles around with prints and shapes until she is satisfied with the end result. She finds the process somewhat therapeutic.

A naturally shy person, Janine says FE has forced her out of her comfort zone as she is now more comfortable interacting with the ‘amazing’ people who cross her path.

Asked to share the formula for her success, she said the only constants are her unwavering faith in God and hard work; she hastened to add however, that “everyone’s journey is different.” Being an entrepreneur she says, comes with ups and downs... dry seasons and harvests. She says it all comes down to how much one is willing to sacrifice for the sake of their brand..
