Wayne County Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner’s Program

WC SAFE Advocacy Program

Wayne County SAFE’s Advocacy Program provides crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and support services to Wayne County survivors of sexual assault. Services are provided in a confidential, non-judgmental atmosphere, with specially trained staff —at no cost. We focus on the healing process and in addition, work to end sexual violence in our community.

Volunteer positions available in the following programs: · Crisis Intervention/Survivor Support Services · First Response Team/ On Call · Prevention & Education · Community Organizing · Community Outreach · Administrative Support · Fundraising


Volunteer Requirements All volunteers must: Be 18 years of age or older Participate in an interview with WC SAFE prior to volunteering/training Attend WC SAFE’s volunteer training (35 hours) Attend required volunteer in-service and on-going trainings Commit to working with survivors of sexual assault Agree to a background check through Michigan State Police Agree to abide by WC SAFE’s confidentiality policy Follow rules and regulations regarding security and safety

For Crisis Intervention/Survivor Support Services volunteers must: Commit to volunteering for at least six months Attend at least half of volunteer in-services and on-going trainings held Commit to a regular number of hours per month, determined by WC SAFE Supervisor
