The Best Fun Your Kids Will Have This Summer Now in its tenth year, North East River Yacht Club’s popular ‘Learn To Sail’ summer camp is open to boys and girls aged 7 through 16 years. No previous experience is required. The club is situated on the sheltered waters of the Northeast River on the Chesapeake Bay, making it an ideal location for learning to sail. It is also a close and easy commute from all SE Pennsylvania, northern Maryland and Delaware Counties. Sailing, whether pursued as a pastime or a sport, is not only loads of fun, it gets kids outdoors, builds life skills and fosters camaraderie and friendships. In fact, our sailors have such a great time they return year after year, and many spend the entire summer with us. Our instructors are selected for their love of sailing, experience, mentoring and leadership qualities. We also require they are all CPR and first-aid certified, and have attained their US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Certification. During their time with us your youngsters will learn all the essential elements of sailing: rigging, launching, sail trim, points of sail, right of way, boat handling, as well as seamanship and water safety in a combination of lessons, practice drills, games and lots of time out on the water. Once they have mastered the basics they can progress to our intermediate and advanced levels, or they may even become interested in joining our Bay Racers group, who travel and compete in regional regattas. Camp sessions start June 18th, and run 8 days (Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with supervised care from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. over two consecutive weeks. There are 4 sessions per summer.

Relaxation, adventure, and learning at the Centreville Layton School’s summer program We often think of summer as a time for relaxation and a little adventure. However, for most children summer is also time when learning loss can occur. This loss is referred to as the “summer slide.” Over the course of a child’s educational career these “slides” can add up to large achievement gaps. Centreville Layton School feels there is time for relaxation, adventure, and most of all, learning in the summer. Our summer program offers options to meet every student’s academic and recreational needs. For elementary and middle school age students, Centreville Layton School Summer Program offers students academic support and instruction in preparation for the upcoming school year. Focusing on targeted support to strengthen reading and math skills through a challenging, dynamic, and supportive program. Every summer, students are welcomed from local independent, parochial, and public schools. Families are often drawn to the well-rounded program. In addition to the educational portion, students have the option of staying for a dynamic afternoon recreational program. Afternoon campers enjoy trips to the pool, local field trips, and a full program of activities on the Centreville Layton School 20-acre campus. Centreville Layton School is also proud to offer a Summer Program to meet High School students’ needs. Students who attend our program are met with an innovative and unique summer learning experience. We understand as students get older and more independent that they do not want to spend all morning in a classroom. To accommodate the maturing nature of high school and middle school students Centreville Layton School is proud to offer hybrid courses which combine teacher’s expert instruction with the flexibility of independent work that busy summer schedules require. Each course offers a summer friendly schedule and is overseen by one of Centreville Layton School’s expert teachers. With twice a week on-campus instructional sessions, at-home independent work, and daily online access to your child’s instructor, these hybrid courses are the solution to get a jump start on the coming school year. For more information on any of our programs please visit us at www. centrevillelayton.org/summer.
