The best source of vitamins is food. Fruits and vegetables provide excellent antioxidant support, as well as vitamins and other nutrients they supply. However, if you have adrenal fatigue, then you need to consider vitamin supplements.

Most people with adrenal fatigue are likely to deplete important vitamins and minerals. Supplementation with vitamins B and vitamins C, D, E, and K-can help restore the adrenal glands to health. Not all vitamins are the same. The quality of the vitamins you take makes all the difference in how well they work in your body. Here are three features of synthetic versus natural vitamins that you should consider:  Ingredients: Pay attention to the ingredients of vitamin supplements. Many synthetic vitamins may have other chemicals (used in the process of developing them) that you do not want in your body. You can get most of the natural vitamins you need from a reputable healthy food store. Again, it's important that you talk to your health care professional about the right kind of vitamins for you.  Digestion: Compared to natural vitamins, synthetic vitamins are more difficult for the stomach and intestine to rot.  Absorption: Synthetic vitamins are chemically made and are often not absorbed as well as natural vitamins. Much has to do with the preparation of the same vitamin. Because the compounds in a natural vitamin are very similar to those found in foods, they are easier to digest and absorb. Vitamin B supplements Many diets lack Group B vitamins. Because of the importance of B vitamins for adrenal health, each should take a B-complex supplement. A good vitamin B complex has all essential vitamins B adrenal glands require, including thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6) and Cyanocobalamin (B12). The good news is that a high quality vitamin B complex helps in preventing adrenal fatigue. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of adrenal fatigue, then you will probably need to supplement some of these group B vitamins at a higher dose.

Vitamin C Supplements Vitamin C is very important for the function of the adrenal gland. If your diet is low in vitamin C, then you may have to supplement it in order to get the optimal amount to prevent adrenal fatigue. You should take vitamin C in doses of 1,000 to 2,000 milligrams a day to provide the support of nutrients that the adrenal glands have to deal with daily stress. If you have symptoms of adrenal fatigue, then you may need more vitamin C to nourish the suprarenal glands-your dose may be as high as 4,000 to 5,000 milligrams per day. See your doctor. You can take this vitamin twice a day in divided doses. If you have kidney disease or are on dialysis, take a lower dose of vitamin C. For someone with kidney disease, the normal dose is in the order of 250 to 500 milligrams per day. For symptoms of adrenal fatigue in this specific patient population, start at 1,000 milligrams a day and slowly increasing.

Vitamin D supplements Vitamin D deficiency is found at epidemic levels in the United States as well as in other industrialized countries, so vitamin D supplements are generally a good idea. How much vitamin D do you need to take every day? The answer to that question is enough. In other words, you need enough vitamin D to get your vitamin D levels above 40 ml. Here are some basic concepts about vitamin D supplements:  There are two forms of vitamin D replacement: Vitamin D2 and vitamin D3. The first is derived from the animals, and the second is derived from the plants. There's nothing wrong with any of the shapes.  What's with the sun? Excellent question! The sun is a great source of vitamin D. All you need is 15 minutes of sun exposure every day to get the mega doses of vitamin D. Fifteen minutes of sunshine that can give 20,000 units of vitamin D. The key is to avoid sunburn.  A vitamin D3 maintenance dose that everyone should take (with some exceptions) is 1,000 to 2,000 units per day. Because vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, it is best absorbed when taken with food. It can be taken in amounts divided during the day with food.  If your levels are below 40 ml, you may need to increase the dose of vitamin D3 until your levels are on par. This can mean an average of 3,000 to 5,000 units per day.  Vitamin D can increase calcium and phosphorus absorption to check calcium levels when the vitamin D dose is increased. If a person has kidney stones or has a problem with high calcium levels, vitamin D3 may not be appropriate-or should be used at very low doses.

Vitamin E supplements There are eight basic forms of vitamin E, including tocotrienols and tocopherols. A good vitamin E supplement should contain all eight to provide maximum benefit. A good initial dose is 200 milligrams a day. Usually, take a capsule of vitamin E with food for maximum absorption.

Vitamin K supplements Vitamin K has several important functions. It promotes the health of both the bones and blood vessels by inhibiting the calcium leaching of the bones and preventing calcium from entering the blood vessels. If you are taking warfare (Coumadin) for the treatment of a cardiac arrhythmia, a clot in the veins of the leg (deep vein thrombosis), or a clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism), do not take vitamin K2. It can affect the liver processing of warfare and have a potentially deadly interaction. Vitamin K2 can be started at a dose of 40 micrograms a day and increase to 60 micrograms in time. This vitamin is taken once a day. Since vitamin K2 is fat-soluble, it has a better absorption rate when taken with food.

How deficiencies of potassium, calcium, and vitamin C can lead to adrenal fatigue Nutrient deficiencies can affect multiple organs and systems and possibly lead to adrenal fatigue. You need important minerals (including magnesium, calcium, and potassium), minerals (including zinc, chromium, and selenium), and vitamins. It is very important that your intestinal tract on the track before you take nutrient supplements. If your bowel is permeable, the intestine's ability to absorb these nutrients is compromised.

Potassium and calcium Potassium and calcium often work together with magnesium. They are absorbed into the small intestine, and the deficiencies of one of these minerals can affect the levels of the others. Potassium is important to the health of your cells, especially in the nerves and heart. Very low or very high levels of potassium can have detrimental effects on the function of the heart. Calcium is important to the heart and bone health. As magnesium, calcium and potassium are important for the adrenal gland cells to function. With the Western or standard American diet, potassium levels tend to be at the bottom. The same is true for calcium. For most people in Western society, these levels are not low enough to cause symptoms. Fortunately, your health care professional may ask you for blood tests that indicate whether potassium and calcium levels are low.

Green leafy vegetables are an excellent source of potassium and calcium. When you go to see the doctor, your blood test probably shows that the calcium level is normal. What the tests do not indicate is that your body may be leaching calcium from the bones to maintain normal blood levels. Natural tendency of your body is to try to balance the levels of minerals in the blood in any way you can. In addition, the modern diet is very acidic, and that acidity can serve as a stimulus for the leaching of calcium from the bones.

Vitamin C Like vitamin B5, vitamin C is vital to the function of the adrenal gland. Did you know that one of the highest concentrations of vitamin C in your body is found in the adrenal glands? It is found in both the adrenal cortex and the suprarenal medulla. Vitamin C is necessary for the production of steroid hormones and adrenal medulla hormones, including epinephrine and norepinephrine. A research paper from the Endocrine journal Research in 2004 suggests that the depletion of vitamin C can also affect the functioning of mitochondria in the adrenal cortex. Vitamin C is also important for bone health and collagen production (important for joint health) as well as for many cellular reactions. It is one of the best antioxidants to help protect cells from damage caused by inflammation. Vil is a condition caused by the total depletion of the body of vitamin C. It is characterized by ulcerations anemia, fatigue, and mouth. Scurvy was more common in the distant past, but it is rare nowadays. One of the best nutritional sources of vitamin C is fresh citrus fruits. Other foods include broccoli, cauliflower, kale, mustard leaves, and Brussels sprouts.
