Lampert was inspired to create the product from previous internships on Wall Street, where he had seen how the large corporations were equipped with amazing tools for group communication that the average consumer did not have access to. Wiggio.com was created to bring that functionality to the average person desiring an easier way to work together. His goal in developing Wiggio was to give people the resources they would need to work well in groups.
Wiggio.com was cofounded in 2008 with investors Rob and Derek Doyle.Wiggio. com is a free, online toolkit that makes it easy to work in groups. Lampert is responsible for Wiggio’s operations and developments. Under his direction, Wiggio has amassed six hundred thousand users since it has come out of beta mode, compared to the fifteen hundred users who started when Wiggio was launched at Cornell University. The website has received praise for its functionality for such sources as CMS Wire and Innovation District. The Prendismo Collection, upstartsmart.com, and Michael K. Sullivan also have all interviewed Lampert, and he has written about being an entrepreneur for youngmoney.com.

Backgrounder Wiggio is an online organizational tool that makes it easy to work in groups. Wiggio was launched to the public in September of 2008 by creators Dana Lampert, Rob Doyle Jr., and Derek Doyle. It is based out of Cambridge, MA. Its creators started Wiggio out of a general frustration toward working in groups, sending multiple emails, and using many different services. They wanted to create a tool that would allow users to have everything they need for group communication in one place.
On the site, group members can use a variety of tools to communicate with other members. These tools include: mass messaging, a universal search tool, polling, and audio and video conferencing. Wiggio has adapted to the growing prominence of smartphones, by creating an iPhone app for its users. Soon, Wiggio will launch its premium service which will include more storage space and many more options for group communication at a small fee. The website’s original service, however, will continue to be free to everyone. Recently, the Wiggio team discovered that a large company called NIMBioS was using their website. NIMBioS, or the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis, had been sharing their scientific research on the site. They also used it to organize investigative workshops that focused on both biology and mathematics.
NIMBioS was established in September of 2008 with a mission to explore the interface of mathematics and biology. It uses research to collaborate and attempt to answer questions posed by biology today. NIMBioS plans to help fund Wiggio and support them in launching their upcoming premium service.
