Record Enrollment Set 2012 freshman class raises enrollment to a record high of 1700 This fall Adrian College made history yet again by welcoming over 650 new students to campus raising the campus total to just above 1700. This record-breaking class size is part of an ongoing recruiting process that began approximately seven years ago when Jeffrey Docking became president of Adrian College. President Docking’s goal was to restructure the recruiting process in an attempt to help the college rise out of the recruitment recession it had previously endured. Through the hard work and determination dedicated by all who play an active role on campus, we are succeeding. Though the number alone is impressive, the class can be recognized for more than its recordbreaking size. Approximately onethird of the freshman class is from out of state, which includes a significant
number of students from Canada as well as three students from China. In addition, the academic standards of the new class are higher than ever with the most amount of freshmen with an ACT composite score of 25 or higher. This freshman class is not only helping Adrian’s campus to grow in number, but it also helps the college to grow intellectually and culturally. The Vice President for Enrollment, Dr. Frank Hribar, and the Director for Admissions, Erin VanDerworp, credit the successful recruiting year to all faculty and staff stating, “We are all part of a team, and everyone plays a key role in ensuring that prospective students experience the best that Adrian College has to offer. Without the dedication and extensive hours of work contributed by our faculty and staff we would not be where we are today in terms of enrollment. We are appreciative of all that they do.” The Office of Admissions hopes this recruitment year will prove to be as successful as the last and looks forward to the year to come.
The Adrian Standard was created for the purpose of enhancing the flow of communication from the Enrollment organization to all members of the Adrian College community. The Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, and Marketing & Publications have been engaged in several projects designed to enhance Adrian College recruitment and promotional activities. Our hope is to utilize this publication as a vehicle to provide the community with useful information regarding the organization’s activities; and, we hope to illustrate how these efforts strategically support our overall enrollment structure. Furthermore, we hope you will find much of this information useful as you come in contact with potential, and current, Adrian College students.
