Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching Coaching principles, theory and application to practice and Advancing coaching practice in and across organisational contexts Two M level 30 credit modules starting in the Summer term 2013 and Spring term 2014 Coaching and mentoring have become integral to educational practice and leadership, so gaining in-depth knowledge and skills in this field is crucial. Our first module is focused on advancing coaching and mentoring practice for individuals and the other is about making coaching and mentoring work for teams, organisations and communities. These modules are suitable for people who have an interest, commitment and some experience in developing others and openness to developing their knowledge, understanding and skills in coaching and mentoring.

Sessions 2, 3, 4 and 5: Coaching in groups and teams – skills, techniques and application

Sessions 6, 7, and 8: The pragmatics of coaching for organisations and systems Assessment: Assessed Organisational Report (5000 words)

Coaching principles, theory and application to practice

Spring term 2014, 5.30pm - 8.30pm

Sessions 1, 2 and 3: Laying the groundwork for purposeful coaching concepts and principles of coaching and building coaching relationships

Session 4 and 5: Coaching practice and feedback

Session 6, 7 and 8: Coaching and diversity; professional practice and coaching; leadership development and coaching

Session 9: Assignment activities and preparation workshop Assessment: A 5000 word Synthesis / Critical Reflection paper with a supporting professional portfolio.
