RESEARCH TITLE THE IMPLICATIONS TOWARDS SPACIAL DENSITY AND ATMOSPHERE IN RELATION TO FOOD PRESENTATION AND FOOD STYLES

RESEARCH QUESTION HOW DOES FOOD PRESENTATION/STYLE PLAY A ROLE IN ATMOSPHERE AND SPACIAL DENSITY OF AN ESTABLISHMENT?

Food is an integral part of culture of Malaysia. Through a formation of blended cultures and societies Malaysian food stands out among all. It is through this realisation of the various available types of food and locations nationwide, that a study based on how food presentation styles would affect or how it plays a major role in atmosphere and special density would intrigue most & provide startling conclusions.

To understand and learn from the findings based on the research question and title, a few objectives must be laid out for a smooth execution of the entire process during research. Most importantly and vividly is to understand how food plays a part in the architecture and space usage. Furthermore, knowing the difference in dining styles, be it fine dining or casual, is important for the correlation of space density. Finally, there would also be a need to understand the culture and reasons behind certain decisions in regards to dining preferences and location preferences.

To conduct a research, it is important to understand the significance behind the research and study, henceforth this to be the understanding of how “hawker food” is implemented in the daily lives of locals and what are the aspects of it that drives them to love the food and atmosphere.

The methods that are to be used in the execution of this research include conducting an extensive site research before the research takes place, information farming in the essence of collecting raw data from the site for analysis, on-site observations which will be conducted on the day of research at the location, online research based on the historical implications and library research and referencing for further information.

The outcomes that are of expected to come out of this research include the production of a video and a well written report. The location of the research is to be conducted in SS15 in the municipality of Subang Jaya in the greater Kuala Lumpur region. The target audience for the research would include local residents, tourists, and students. The duration of the on-site research will take one day on the Friday of the 29th day of April 2016.

As with conducting any research which includes the public and their opinion, there are many ethical considerations that are to be in place in accordance with the code of ethics when conducting a research. Most important is to provide a consent before using the data of the said person, and to be given the condition of anonymity to respect the contributor’s privacy as well as their choices. Lastly a bias-free and transparent report is to be written out of the data, ensuring full and real transferring of data to the audience.
