Hidden Habitat Albaicín’s School

A place with history, with memory. It speaks of the heart of the Islamic city, the origin of the city of Granada. A place with a high historical and scenic value, which is one of the most unique places of the Albaicín due to the presence of the medieval walls of the Zirí and Almohade times (XI and XII century). A plot that plays in every moment with its surroundings and with the city. The City-Wall relationship is present in each of the sections of the project. Moreover, this can be observed through the different phases I have projected. A project that can be understood in all directions. From the tourist information building to the Headquarters and School, surrounding the archaeological remains and the existing vegetation.

URBAN INTERVENTION_Additions that shape the natural space __1º Phase: generation of new accessible trails and connection with the different public buildings. In addition to a new SCHOOL OF CRAFTS INTERVENCIÓN URBANA_ que conforman el espacio natural program and the changing of the NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION OFAñadidos ALBAICÍN. __2º Phase: It is about adding the Carmen house, located near the Aljibe del Rey. It would be a phase to mark the continuity in the urban walk, where the street would become a facade towards the walk next to the wall. __3º Phase: This is the urban relationship with the “Cuesta de Alhacaba”, breaking the physical barrier that exists between a part of the lower Albaicín and the Wall, through a new green space that border this area.

A proposal that tries to change the private space into a public spaces, generating routes that unite them and turn this into a pleasant place. There, the five senses of the visitors are active at all times. The sense of taste and smell through vegetation, touch through the different materials, and sight and hearing thanks to the combination of nature and city. For a complete understanding of the urban space, the sections serve to understand the existing levels and to see how different accesses are resolved. It is a building that understands the protagonism that exists when you settle on the ground and become a hinge between the interior and the exterior, bordering at all times the existing wall and understood as an additional viewpoint of the city.

The Association of neighbors is structured as a building around a courtyard. It is an architectural typology of this area, where the classrooms are built facing it. In addition, is the idea of discovering the building using the topography of its environment, through the creation of new levels and accesses along the edge of the building. A building that is hidden on the wall and it can only be discovered from the inside. 739.00

Temporary School

In a project of human awareness a temporary school is proposed for children /adults in times of wars, natural disasters... with the intention that it can be taken down and put up in a few days. Considering a warm climate, the idea of the reutilization and modification of typical port containers is proposed. Transforming them for easy transportation in a possible modulation and adaptation to what could be a school, allowing changes and adaptations for the needs of the moment. Versatile, easily built, and cheap are the main characteristics of this project. Which can be transported with only four trucks and it can be constructed by an unskilled workforce. This is the idea of the temporary school which can create rich, relevant spaces, and that leaves the design in the hands of the person who builds it.

Mills of the Rother Bydgoszcz

We approach a disused space with history, to create a public and contemporary space, without diminishing the historical presence of the building. This building is an impressive cultural icon that will become the most visited museum of Boats and Machines ever in Bydgoszcz. The island is located close to Brda’s river, located west of Old Market, in the old quarter of Bydgoszcz. Mill Island is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places of Bydgoscz, because of its striking qualities: water canals, vegetation, and buildings with beautiful facades lined up along the river, popularly called the “Second Venice” of Bydgoszsz.

04

Project Idea We choose to enhance the urban character of the building without damaging the great importance of its form, so we left the permanent shape and typology. The most obvious alteration from the outside is the light beam coming from the upper room, a horizontal contrast with the high chimney. With the opening of the landscape that surrounds the old public space, we have tried to take a natural approach to an apparently monolithic building. Gardens are located between the museum and around the historic building providing access in all directions and retain all of the old facades. Through the new artificial topography we want to indicate entrances and invite the public inside, by turning the large space between the park and the building into a public square.

SPA

WATER MAZE A place for rest and relaxation, of scents and sensations‌ Within the spa we can discover scents, sensations, coolness, quietness‌ all of those qualities are reflected in the physical and visual relationship. Each space and each element is designed to create a response in the client who is looking for comfort and rest outside of day to day life. Discovering different levels, different heights, and different ways of looking at the surroundings through skylights and large windows that we witness throughout the distinct hallways, creating spacial diversity, playfulness and interaction with light.

05

Development of the Idea Expansion

Modulation, Lower floor

Possible extension of the range of the area: -Conservation of the existing vegetative mass -Modulation throughout the original building -Modular alteration based on the surroundings and function

Modulation, Upper Floor

Relaciรณn visual

Functional characteristics: -Floor dedicated to relaxation (sauna, Jacuzzi) -Visual relationship with the environment -A lot of privacy (small pools, intimate)

Co worker “Coworking” is a a type of project that allows independent professionals from different sectors to share the same workspace to develop their professional projects in an independent manner, while at the same time developing projects together. This idea is conceived and expresses itself in a “coworking” space with different room. Each room is a reflection of the outside, which we can notice as we ascend to the center of the stairs, which allows us to go from one room to another without disturbing people in other room. Each room will be made from a different materials and will be organized in relation to its function. -Reception room / workshop / cinema -Individual-work room -Meeting room -“VIP” room for individual work -Terrace

06

Project Idea Currently there is a guitar workshop, of which we will only conserve the outdoor wall and the central location of the stairs. From just being in this neighborhood for an instant, one can appreciate the simplicity of the neighborhood and the uselessness of the existing space. Pedestrians do not pay attention to their surroundings until they see something out of the norm. From this thought process, we have developed the building, elevated like a combination of different pieces. The first is created with a similar outside wall to the old building, but with a better use of the solar light, and in a second we can observe major changes; changes that from a pedestrian view cannot be appreciated, but when seen from a distance, they can. Like “coworking, this building tries to disguise itself in the beginning to later become familiar and interact with the street and the people. General Level

SH14 Social Housing

A collective house can be described as “a building with mainly residential use . This time we want to create a building in which the owner of the home includes other services and creates a space that fosters social relationships. We need a building that integrates well into the space, that connects with it, and that generate a relationship of cohabitation.

Project Idea

Development diagrams

The basic idea that we are developing is the creation of a building of residences that groups a society together with its own owners in a natural and fluid environment. 1

8 4- Volumetric Development 5- Achieve a position facing the sea 6- Lower the height to the south 7- Entrances to the enclosure 8- Final contextualization

For this reason, we are designing a program of commercial areas, houses and common areas, making a urban concept inside the building.

Library Ave María Vistillas The construction of this library is generated through the fluidity of the circulation that the car park and school require. An irregular volume that shows itself, plays with the visuals and connects itself to the place. Within these volumes, holes are opened to generate visuals with tree-covered areas that exist alongside some streets and points of interest. A large part of the plot is left unconstructed to create gardened areas that combine with the uses of the building, intending to allow the user to use the areas for resting, reading‌.trying to achieve the ability to provide a function that the plaza currently does not provide. This work discusses a project that looks to strengthen its image and make itself visible, creating areas of comfort and places that awake sensations.

I.C. Barbate/

Interpretation Center

A place for fisherman, a beach, a river, a place of traditions, but more than anything a place of a beautiful landscape. Defined by the traditions of Barbate, a place whose patrimonial landscape is ranked very highly. This enclave is located just on the shore of the River Barbate, where nature and construction from the 1970’s, show the beautiful fishing industry that once existed. Starting in the 1970’s, the boats were abandoned and were used for something totally different to before, bringing with it deterioration, and converting the river area into a sewage space.

Project Idea

S2

The hillside of the river was once a collective space in which each ship was harbored with a different related use. Now they are all broken up, so disjointed that they make the river look like a wasteland. These boats generate an image of a wall between the river and the city. This will mark the project idea: • • • •

Permeability Connection between the industrial warehouses Understanding of the landscape Use linked to the past

On the Gorund Floor we will find two lobbies to allow different uses, the Center of Interpretation and the workshop. In each lobby, we can see the existing permeability where each of the entrances has direct visuals to the river, and where the same covering of the building is made of glass to allow natural light to pass through and achieve permeability. On the Second Floor we can see the walkway and lookout that connects the two uses of the Interpretation Center and the rooms / workshops through an element that serves as a spot for temporary exhibits, as well as a space to enjoy the views of the area.

Hinge of opportunity Competition

On the base of a currently degraded and unused space, but with great potential, we project a new space for the city, as a hinge between this one and the meadow. The space gives a place for young and old people alike, trying to create activity in the space. The meadow and this space are connected through one of the irrigation canals that water the ground, and that appear at the front, crossing it and having a leading role in the proposed space.

Idea

Water, as an changing element, present at certain moments, brings us movement and a point of interest. It is a changing space throughout the year, even the day. Its versatility allows different related activities to be carried out in the same space and at different times. Two levels appear; the upper one (street level), and the lower one (when the water disappears). The lower one is connected to the upper one by terraces, creating spaces of rest. It is a total renovation and a trigger to provide the great activity that this space deserves.
