PASSIONS
E-Riverfront Central Garden Sg skudai is strategically located in a centralized location that surounded by institution, residential housing abd shophouses. Although the site is full with cultural elements, however endure with the environmental issues and social gap (lack of neighbourhood spirit). Sg Skudai used to be an agriculture land but it turned into an urban land due to the rapid development. As a result, more agriculture area declined and thhe expansion of the development has caused to nowadays environmental issues. In term of these issues, our site has been isolated and become an inactive area. Hence, our fundamental idea for this project is Riverfront Education for Rehabilitation. Our design intention is to upcycling the agriculture land activities through environmental education. As a result, this project will serve as a platform and an opportunity for the community involvement in order to strengthen their neighbourhood spirit meanwhile creating awareness towards environmental issues. Based on the data analysis, youth will be the most potential trigger (44%) to influence the participation of the community by drawing others attention during their recreation time. Hence, our project will also be a platform for school to launch environmental education in future.

Design Development
1. VOLUME Potential built-up allows for 7 stories and an area of 4500m2. Masses are located towrds the street front to avoid a ‘gap’ in the urban fabric.
2. SITE SENSITIVITY The mass is pushed slightly back on the site to respond to the influence of the neighbouring building.
LEGENDS VEHICLES PEDESTRI3. ACCESSIBILITY Vehicular and pedestrian circulation are separated to provide an inviting sense yet safety purpose for the users. Pedestrian is welcomed with an extensive paddy field agricultural landscape upon entering the site.
4. FOCAL POINT The mass is pushed slightly back on the site to respond to the influence of the neighbouring building.
5. ZONING Public spaces are located on ground floor while education spaces are located on first floor. Private spaces such as technology research labs and co-working spaces are located from second floor till the sixth floor.
6. CORE & SERVICES Core and services are strategically located to improve circulation and safety.
7. CASCADING FLOOR The floors are recessed into the building gradually as to provide visual comfort for the street users as well as to respect the nature of the site.
8. GREEN BALCONIES Green balconies wrap east and west side of the building, allowing cross ventilation and sun-shading to the space. Other than serving as a thermal buffer in tropical climate, it also soften the edges of this building.

The concept of Living Co-Lab is to bring work and life to an new level, making it a liveable and efficient workspace. Infusing 7 key aspects aside from working, eat, play, sleep, sport, read and plant are emphasised to promote quality living that align with the concept. The word ‘Co-Lab’ is defined as co-working space for users to be inspired, connect, collaborate and grow through meeting like-minded people, exchanging new ideas and maximising collision between diverse of industries and disciplines, sparkling cross-fertilisation between different domain. Therefore, facilitating relationship and increasing efficiency of usage.
Design Issue With the emergence of more entrepreneurs in Malaysia, there are increasing demand of office space especially in Kuala Lumpur. Wisma Central is known as a building which is central and well-connected with cheap rent of the office/retail spaces. Due to Its typical office layout that restrict the programmes and fuction of the building, Wisma Central does not draw people’s attention. Nowadays, co-working space is a new trend that slowly catching on in the market, rising in popularity among a new breed of entrepreneurs who are capable of running an entire operation from their laptops. The co-working concept proposes that individuals or groups from different organizations can share a single working environment, often an open office set-up that is fully equipped with facilities which is able to unleash the full potential of typical plan in Wisma Central.
Analysis: The idea of wall/partition that divides workspace into small cubicles is replaced with a wide open shared workspace. Services, utilities and leisure space are provided as supplementary space to support the main workspace. Synthesis: Shared workspace seems to be dominant in existing co-working space in achieving collaboration among users. Services, utilities, leisure space as well as workspace are lacking of integration. Therefore, the atmosphere of the coworking space is monotonous and dull.
