Survey Shows Men And Women Relax In Different Ways (NAPSA)—If you’re like most people, you like to relax on vacation—but just how do different people relax? A recent national survey came to an intriguing conclusion. The survey revealed that men and women have very different notions of what makes a vacation truly relaxing.

It turns out while almost one in four women would rather read more to relax, 34 percent of men would rather have more intimacy on vacation than at home.

The men may be on to something, the survey suggests. It found that 45 percent of men feel relaxed when they return home from vacation as opposed to 43 percent of women, who feel tired and need a vacation from their vacation.

Here are a few more facts that the survey, conducted by Princess Cruises, found: Go Big or Go Home The majority of Americans, aged 35 and older, report that it typically takes them two or more days to settle into their vacation, perhaps needing extra time to unplug from the office. In fact, nearly two out of three Americans surveyed prefer at least a full week away on vacation, as opposed to a day off here and there, to completely check out and feel relaxed.

Millennials agree, with one in four choosing sleep as the activity they most enjoy doing more of on a relaxing vacation than when they are at home. On the other hand, only 14 percent of Americans 65 and older are eager to sleep on vacation.

Nearly one in four parents prefer sleeping more on vacation than nonparents. In fact, for parents, getting more sleep on vacation is more of a priority than having sex (23 percent and 20 percent, respectively).

HELP WANTED Time For A Gut Check For Heart-Healthy Living (NAPSA)—While heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States, keeping your cholesterol in check may keep you out of such statistics. Workforce development—attracting, developing and retaining a diverse workforce—is thought by many to be critical to the continuing success of the public transportation industry.

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) projects that over the next five years, the industry will face a severe shortage of skilled and seasoned employees as thousands of workers from the baby-boom generation approach retirement.

Other significant workforce challenges include a generally tight labor market, an increase in technological requirements across job functions and the growing diversity of the workforce.

Opportunities For Veterans In recent years, APTA has encouraged its members to recruit veterans for careers in public transportation as a way to fulfill their workforce needs.

Said Flora Castillo, APTA Chair, “We have great employees who ensure our riders are safe and on time every day. We appreciate our employees who are veterans, as well as the other members of our diverse employee base—both technical and nontechnical—who bring their unique skills to our riders. These veterans have many transferable skills that fit into public transportation and we welcome them to join our dynamic and growing industry.”

She added that in addition to bringing a wide range of skills and experience, veterans often have the ability to demonstrate exemplary leadership skills.
