What does our logo mean? Our logo features an “A” which has been part of our logo for many years as it is a symbol of excellence and also represents our roots in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The flame reinforces our deep commitment to our faith, as well as our connection to many other faiths, which manifests as a heartfelt mission to provide compassionate, quality care. The three lines of the flame highlight our focus on caring for each patient’s body, mind and spirit. Finally, the blue color in our logo symbolizes healing, and the orange color symbolizes strength, vitality and good health.

Why are we called Adventist HealthCare? As President and CEO Terry Forde explains: More than 100 years ago, Adventist HealthCare was started by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide distinctive and effective healthcare in communities. Adventist HealthCare is currently one of the five, independent health systems sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which serve different regions in the United States. This foundation in faith is reflected in our mission statement which reads, “We extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.” For Adventist HealthCare, “faith-based” means having respect for many different faith communities, and being appreciative of the role of faith and religion in our society. That respect for other spiritualities is one of the reasons our team includes individuals from so many faiths, and why we seek to meet the cultural and religious needs of our patients and their families with a very diverse spiritual care staff.
What is the Seventh-day Adventist Church? The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a Christian faith. Founded in the mid-1800s, Adventists now have a membership of more than 19.1 million people, making it one of the largest religious bodies in the world. The Adventists are established in more than 200 countries, and are ethnically and culturally diverse.

The Seventh-day Adventist name originates from observing Saturday (the original seventh day of the Judeo-Christian week) as the Sabbath and emphasizing the second coming (advent) of Jesus. Adventists are recognized throughout the world for their many hospitals, schools and publishing houses to care for a person’s body, mind and spirit.
What do Adventists believe? 1
God is Loving God constantly offers opportunities for connection through scripture, through Jesus Christ and through personal engagement. Adventists embrace these opportunities for relationship by responding with devoted service to all people in the community.
2
God is Caring God cares for the well-being of every person as a beloved creation. Accordingly, Adventists believe and teach that each person is given a divine opportunity to serve others and improve quality of life. Adventists see healthcare that recognizes the connection between the body, mind and spirit as a way to honor God and participate in a grace-filled relationship with the world.
3
God is Always Present God’s relationship is so personal that everyday activities can be transformative. All acts, words and deeds have the potential to be seen as opportunities for grace-filled moments of connection. Adventists celebrate this constant availability of God by honoring the Sabbath as an opportunity to recognize God’s presence with a heightened awareness, often through prayer and devotion.
How does this faith relate to the community we serve? Adventists have a deep respect for other faith communities who have their own beliefs, traditions and rituals. In keeping with that profound regard for others’ values, Adventists offer a full range of quality healthcare to meet the needs of everyone in our society.
How does Ad ventist HealthCare live out its mi ssion of healing ministry? We’re blessed to continue our long-standing tradition as the largest provider of charity care and community benefit in Montgomery County.
Adventists believe that offering physical, mental and spiritual care as an act of compassionate service will result in a rich environment for God’s grace to provide the best healing outcome.
We strive to respond proactively to various healthcare needs with wide-ranging services that help diverse populations. In addition to providing direct health services, the Adventist HealthCare Center for Health Equity & Wellness works to reduce and eliminate disparities by improving healthcare access and ensuring quality treatment throughout the community.
