The Dames in Turre have two excursions planned … a shopping trip to the commercial centres in Murcia (Primark, Ikea, C&A, etc.) on October 28th and a three day trip to Benidorm on November 23rd. Again friends and guests are welcome. Telephone Lesley 950 478 633 or Sylvia 950 472 967 to book your places. And finally … by the time you read this De Lima’s should have reopened after their recent flood! And finally, finally … A poll conducted for the Mayor of London revealed that over 60 per cent of Londoners would prefer the clocks not to be put back in winter. However, whether we like it or not it’s that time of year again and the clocks are indeed going back by one hour, at 2am on Sunday 31st October 2010.

Women on the Verge of HRT
& BEAUTY TREATMENTS
Plot Summary: Best friends Vera and Anna have a number of things in common. They are on the 'wrong' side of 40, have ‘husband troubles’ and an undying love of the Irish singing sensation Daniel O’ Donnell. During a trip to Donegal to see their beloved idol in concert, they come face to face with the realities of their lives – loveless marriages, husbands in the clutch of mid-life crises, impending menopause and the prospect of being thrown on the scrap heap of life. Enter Fergal, the handsome young waiter who happens to look like Daniel, and things begin to change. Vera and Anna confront their fears and start to realise that life doesn't have to end when HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) begins. The show is perfect for a girls' night out, and pretty good for the guys as well.

joke is around 6pm on the 15th of any given month. Prof. Wiseman has sensible explanations for what it is that makes us laugh and has even studied brain function with MRI technology to find out "where" we laugh. It’s all very interesting reading and to top it all there's 40,000 jokes on the site. According to his voting public this is the best joke in the world; Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?" I’ve tried to confirm a suspicion I have about this gag, I'm fairly sure it’s a Spike Milligan/Goon Show joke but I can’t verify it, let me know if you can help with that. That’s all we have space for this month so ‘til next time, be happy and secure in your computer based endeavours. El Navegador advertisernavigator@msn.com

I know someone who lost five years of family photos recently, they are completely irreplaceable and it has left a family distraught. I feel all gloomy now so let’s talk about something fun. Let’s muse over the great work carried out by Prof. Richard Wiseman and the British Association for the Advancement of Science. w w w. r i c h a r d w i s e m a n . c o m / LaughLab/home.html These are the fellas that set up "Laugh Lab" a year long internet project to discover the world’s funniest joke. He had over 40,000 jokes sent in from all over the world and 1,500,000 people rating them. He claims to have discovered the world’s best joke, based on people’s rating but more about that in a minute. The project was deeply scientific and Wiseman has produced figures that prove when we are most likely to find a joke more funny and when we are not. He has surveyed different countries to analyse different tastes in comedy. Apparently the best time to hear a

et’s start off with some good news. You may remember a couple of years ago I wrote about a website called www.plentyoffish.com. It’s an international web based dating agency. A completely free and well presented site. Well, one of our readers registered on the site and immediately met a lovely girl, they have visited Mojácar as a couple a few times since and they are a wonderfully matched pair. The good news is they got married a couple of weeks ago and are undoubtedly bound to a life of happiness. Congratulations you two. Recently a few people I know have lost data for one reason or another and in one case quite disastrously. I went looking for solutions to this problem and have found a rather good one. Normally when hunting down good websites I focus on the
free sites available, but this time I thought differently because this is something worth spending money on. The site I found is www.mozy.co.uk. Mozy.co.uk is an online data backup service. It is an automated online service that records and encrypts all your data every time you go online. Once registered and set up you never need worry about file safety again, there is no limit to the amount you can store with them and apart from the piece of mind this brings, you also get a lot of convenience too. You no longer have to backup on to disc so some savings in money, time and space there and also your account can be accessed from any computer meaning you don’t have to carry yours around with you. An excellent deterrent from having your laptop nicked. Mozy does not update all the photos and files every time you use the system it just updates with anything new that you've added so the time involved is not even noticeable. The charge for this service is five pounds a month, which can probably be written off against the cost of discs and storage boxes in a great many cases. If you don’t feel the need for a service like this I must urge you to backup your

s I continue to produce material regarding Tai Ji I thought it would be useful to broaden the approach and cover the role the mind has to play in our lives starting with the importance of our attitude. All of the following comments are my own personal thoughts, views and beliefs based on my life journey and experience to date. They are my personal truths but are not the truth so please treat them as an item of clothing, put them on and see how they fit. If they feel comfortable then great, if not at least you tried them on. To set the scene I hold the following three fundamental beliefs: • Anything is possible. • Everything is negotiable. • We all have the answers inside of us. The importance of attitude is well documented in many areas of life with the specific areas of sport and business to highlight just two. Being positive is clearly important. The concept of PMA, Positive Mental Attitude, is often referred to as a mindset of choice. “Is the glass half empty or half full?” This is a question that allows each one of us to choose our response. Dependent upon which way we look at life will enable only you to choose your answer. So for some people, to take a look at their lives and consider that where they are at this very moment in their life is in direct correlation to their attitude of mind may well be a hard concept or statement to accept. So let us take a look to how this may be possible. From the moment we individually chose to become independent and steer our own ship or in other words fly the nest and lead the direction of our lives away from our parents or guardians. Our thinking and attitude of mind has determined both the direction and ultimately the outcome of those choices. It takes responsibility (the ability to respond) to accept these suggestions. Who we are now, where we live, the job or career we have, the relationships we share, are all a direct result of our thoughts, our emotions and attitude and the choices we have taken. If at any point we are uncomfortable with where we are then who do you think we have to answer too? Some people think the weather, the government, the media, our parents, our teachers, are to blame. I personally believe at every stage it has been me and only me that has my life exactly where it is right now. By taking personal responsibility for our actions which ultimately have been a direct result of our thoughts then how wonderful it feels to recognise that it is us and only us that is the controller of our life direction. If we are unhappy with any part of our lives, we have the ability at any given moment to change it. Firstly in taking responsibility to own that choice, secondly in taking the necessary action and thirdly to check that based on the action we have taken that we are on track to where we are choosing to be or go. There are many people who can assist us on our journey and in particular professional people who are qualified to support us on our way. Maybe in terms of change of direction or in the process of considering change then a life coach could be one such option. Alternatively there are many great books on the subject or for those who require a different means of learning, audio or visual tools like CD or DVD could be helpful. Another great option is to personally experience a live seminar or workshop. For those who have a specific or general question I would be delighted to support you on your journey. Next month I intend to develop the subject further and discuss the concept of life balance.

It was during a recent conversation with my Mother that I was suddenly asked “when did you get into all of this spiritual stuff?” My response was that I had always been spiritual, but as a young girl didn’t really know about it. All I knew was that I was different from other children. I was very much a loner which of course made me unpopular in school. All I wanted to be was invisible however, being quiet seemed to attract more attention and I was constantly bullied. I did not enjoy being at home as there never seemed to be peace and quiet. I would often feel the need to take myself off for long walks through the park and spend long periods of time sitting on the swings, deep in thought, and there were times when I would play truant from my piano just so that I could have some me time. Looking back I suppose that for me these were my times of meditation and the times that gave me inner peace. Reflecting on my youth, I can recall many events that I would now call spiritual. Since living here in southern Spain, I have had the good fortune to meet many people that have similar beliefs. I had a lady come to one of our therapist support group meetings last year, who had recently moved into the area and was sceptical about whether she would be able to meet like minded people. She was pleasantly surprised at the vast amount of spiritual people she was able to meet in such a short period of time. It is for that reason that personally my spirituality has grown, since living here in Almeria. And more recently something quite extraordinary has happened, but I will share that with you at a later date. Talking of energies, chakras, auras and orbs can sound like a foreign language to some. And for that reason, I would like to share with you my experiences during my spiritual growth. You will learn of opportunities and groups available to you in this area for expanding your spirituality, developing your psychic ability or simply meditating and spending time with likeminded people. I will also share with you my experiences of reiki, crystal healing, past life regression, spirit guides and working with chakras. I feel that it is the energy of the sea, sun and mountains that attract us to this area. One of my recent reiki students chose to spend some time in the Cabrera Mountains the day after she received her attunement. She shared with me that, whilst holding her left hand out towards the mountains she could feel a strong energy force. I love the mountains and the sea and I especially love my morning walks long the beach or paseo and find that taking time during my walks to sit and meditate whilst facing the sea gives me a huge spiritual boost and helps with my healing ability. So I look forward to sharing with you my spiritual growth path. Please feel free to email me if you would like more information on how you can explore what’s available to you in this area and don’t forget to visit the Mind, Body & Spirit event at Valle de Este Hotel on Sunday October 31st. Maybe that is why in Tai Ji terms students below the age of 25 in general find Tai Ji to be too slow. As we get older we recognise the importance of taking our time and that in many ways less is more. So with the benefit of a willing mind that is able to delay the requirement for instant reward we can start to build the muscle of patience. The whole Tai Ji journey is about so many aspects of life which include Balance, Humility, Persistence and
Learning that over time we will always reap what we sow. If you are looking for an art form that can teach you how to be with the duality and paradoxes of life then I repeat to you the words my teacher shared with me very early in my Tai Ji experience. He said Steve, “You are preparing yourself for the fight you may never have,” and in that moment I knew I had found something special that would be with me for the rest of my life. Next month’s article will explain how this ancient art can be looked upon as your “Best Friend”.

your patience seems to have a longer fuse. Let us have a deeper look at two specifics within some of those benefits. Firstly, the measure of time. And then secondly, the reward of being with time or in other words, patience. “Time” the measure of which is so often the clock is how so many people are choosing to live their lives. Deadlines, appointments, tasks and jobs all of which are in the arena of doing. What this often creates is a stress, a tension, a pressure that we feel placed upon us. This in turn creates expectations and so often those expectations are not realistic. How many of us recognise that we live a life where instant gratification is both expected or required? How many of us are really prepared to put in the work, the energy, the effort, application and the persistence for a reward that is delayed, rather than immediately expected?

ne of the many benefits of regular Tai Ji practice is there is no place to get to. No expectation or tension created by having to achieve a specific measured standard. By that I mean there is no external or outside measure of progress in the form of a Grade A Certificate or a Belt. No comparison to others, only to and with yourself, as this journey is all about you. The progress comes from within, an internal knowing that you are making a different kind of progress. For example you may notice in physical terms you can stretch further or your balance has improved or some of those aches and pains have disappeared. Also from a more mental or emotional perspective you may notice you feel calmer, more at peace, or less stressed. Your concentration may have improved, your awareness to time and space enhanced, and

It was articulated on the news recently that Vitamin B is highly beneficial for treatment of Alzheimer’s Dementia. It was so satisfying for me to finally hear people say, “Do you know! Vitamin B is good for you.” I have been taking a Vitamin B Complex supplement, amongst others, for over 25 years and I swear by them all. I often suggest herbal supplements and vitamins to my clients as it is all part of natural and holistic medicine, in particular Vitamin B Complex. I feel that a B Complex supplement should be taken by everyone, unless otherwise specified by your GP. When buying a supplement read the labels. Check that there is at least 500% of the RDA of B12. It has been proven that patients are now taking high doses of vitamin B12 to help reduce symptoms of Alzheimer’s Dementia. Vitamin B Complex is needed for the proper functioning of almost every process in the body. Here are my 5 top reasons why you need to get plenty of B Complex vitamins in your diet. 1. Energy Production Vitamin B1 is needed to help convert the carbohydrates we eat into glucose. Specifically Vitamin B6 and Biotin. A Vitamin B deficiency in any of these vitamins can lead to decreased energy production, lethargy and fatigue. 2. Healthy Nervous system The Vitamin B Complex is essential for the healthy functioning of the

nervous system. Vitamin B5 is needed for the correct functioning of the adrenal glands and the production of some hormones and nerve regulating substances. Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 are essential for the regulation and correct functioning of the entire nervous system including brain function. A deficiency in any of the Vitamin B Complex vitamins can lead to feeling stressed, anxious and depressed. 3. Good Digestion The Vitamin B Complex is essential for correct digestion, production of HCl (hydrochloric acid) and to assist in the breakdown of fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Especially vital for good digestion is Vitamin B6. A deficiency of B vitamins can lead to impaired digestion and deficiency of essential nutrients. 4.Healthy Skin, Hair and Nails The Vitamin B Complex is essential for correct cell reproduction. As our skin, hair and nails are constantly growing and renewing themselves we need B vitamins to ensure the good health of these structures especially B12 and Choline. Deficiencies of any of these B vitamins can lead to dry, grey skin, dermatitis, wrinkles, acne, rashes, falling hair and weak, splitting nails. 5. Synergy The B vitamins work so closely with one another that a deficiency in any one B vitamin can lead to poor functioning of any or all of the others even if they are in good supply. Always take the B vitamins in a Complex and then top up with any individual Vitamin B, if needed. Next month I will be writing about another of my favourite supplements that can help many symptoms, such as tinnitus, rheumatic disorders, hot flushing and sciatica. I am more than happy to accept emails with any health care concerns you may have and advise you on holistic treatments and natural medicines that will be beneficial for your well-being. Over 1,000€ was raised in one evening for the Puppy Rescue Dogs to Holland Appeal!! The charity organised a Summer Evening of entertainment at Bar International, just outside Albox, and tickets, at 10€ each, quickly sold out. Everyone had a great time, dancing on the packed terrace and enjoying the tasty buffet and friendly hospitality of the Bar International staff, who also joined in the dancing. Thank you to the organisers, particularly Di and Chris, and to those who donated raffle prizes and sold the tickets. The music went on until the early hours and the charity is really grateful to the musicians for their continued support of this animal charity. Thank you to Baz and Ed, the Blues Brothers, and to the new band, Fast Eddy, who were fantastic!! Last but not least, thank you to all those who came and made this such a successful event. Watch this space for the next charity event when Di has recovered from this massive amount raised in just one night!!
PUPPY RESCUE in SPAIN Review by Pit Ball “Fast Eddy” Familiar faces but a new line up. From left to right: Brendon O’Dee, Ed Stacey, Bob Neale & Lew Morrey. Customers at the Bar La Union (La Alfoquía ) were treated to a night of Blues and Classic Rock Music on Saturday 11th September when the newly formed “Fast Eddy” put on a foot tapping, hand clapping , arm waving show belting out classic rock numbers like: Rocky Mountain Way (Joe Walsh), Hey Joe (Jimi Hendrix), Alright Now (Free), crowd pleaser No Woman No Cry (Bob Marley) plus Blues standards including Crossroads (Cream) Sweet Home Chicago (Blues Brothers), Stormy Monday Blues (Gary Moore), Hoochie Coochie Man (Muddy Waters) and many, many more. With Brendon doubling up on keyboard and Ed adding a liberal sprinkling of harmonica, plus the formidable Bob on drums and brilliant bassist Lewis you’ve four of the most talented individual musicians around, put them together and what have you got? A night of fantastic entertainment! The night was best summed up by local resident & businessman Liam Evans who said “I’ve been in Spain for 8 years and that’s the best act I’ve heard by miles.” So if you like your rock music played the way it should be - raw, energetic, powerful - you will just love this group. For more information on up-coming shows (or to make a booking) contact Lewis on 681 286 291.
HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT FOSTERING? Would you like to have a dog but don’t want the vet’s bills? Or perhaps you do not live here all year round. We have over 60 dogs in our kennels, large and small, some have been there since they were young pups. Many have never had a home, or someone to love them. Could you give one of them a foster home? We pay all of their vet’s bills, we will even get them spayed or neutered, all you have to do is look after them as if they were your own. Bring them back when you go away or can no longer have them. Even if it is only for a month or so it gives the dog a well deserved break and a taste of home life. For more information phone Diane on 950 591 893 or 664 768 958

Q. What is this week’s Curry Special? A. ..............................................................
YOUR DETAILS Name: .................................................................. Telephone: .......................................................... Email: ...................................................................
The recent APSA coffee morning raised 200€ for the Albox animal charity who run a successful neutering programme as well as caring for many dogs. They thank all who supported the event, the stall holders and the staff of La Parrilla for their help. The cup cakes were particularly tasty!!
The DOGS TO HOLLAND project, run by Puppy Rescue of Albox, continues to be a huge success. They recently received this thank you and report from one of the dog’s new owners. Please donate to Puppy Rescue or visit their shop in Albox so that they can continue this important work which places homeless dogs with loving families. Scamp is really doing great!!! He is SO VERY SWEET!!! He listens very well, loves to be in the garden with us and lay down in the sun (or shadow), he loves to be hugged (he's at the right place for that), loves to walk, is learning that he can play with things or with us. He is so very happy, he shows us all the time his belly even if we only talk to him. We have NO regrets at all!!!!! We also go to a dog-training once a week, and Scamp is smart enough to understand what he must do. Now and then he has to be alone a few hours, and that was a little problem, but that is also better now. He understands that we come back every time. The cat and Scamp are also fine. So as you can read: WE LOVE HIM VERY MUCH. Wish you all the best over there, Arjan and Petra.

19.10.1957 – 09.09.2010 Jacqueline Brown died on the 9th September in Huercal Overa Hospital. Jacqui had two children, Naomi 22 and Jonathan 24, both of whom she was extremely proud. They were with her until the end as was her ex-husband Kevin who was a tower of strength to them during what can only be described as a traumatic time. It was their wish that Jacqui’s ashes be taken back to England and a service to celebrate her life will be held in their village church on the day that Jacqui would have been 53 years old. (19th October). Jacqui came to Mojácar with her daughter 3 years ago and will be truly missed by her friends here, her pretty face, her lovely smile and her elegant manner, not forgetting her great sense of humour. I know that her love for live music will carry on through her talented son Jon and her kindness and gentleness will shine always in Naomi. Josephine Sleep with the angels Jacqui. God bless you and take care of you. Danaher

by The Other Half What is it with the weather at the moment? It seems to me that it has been raining off and on for a month now - I thought Spain was supposed to be the land of Sun, Sea and Sangria? And what about that famous phrase about the Rain in Spain staying Mainly In The Plain? The rain in Spain is all over the place! I suppose a degree of exaggeration is to be expected in all walks of life, hence for Recession read Credit Crunch, a term that is deemed less frightening for the poor beleaguered Joe Public. Then there is Compact, meaning cramped, Lively meaning noisy, and what about Spending More Time With the Family, which means getting the sack? I was voicing these opinions out loud while watching the rain from the lounge window when the Higher Authority spoke. ‘Why don’t you stop grumbling and go and watch the television?’ I was about to point out that I was not grumbling, just expressing opinions already held by many, when I remembered that it is unwise to enter a dispute with the Higher Authority, especially if she is armed with a vacuum cleaner. ‘Why don’t you watch the weather forecast?’ She could have done away with the Why don’t you bit, watch the weather forecast was as good as a Royal Edict. There’s always someone worse off, they say, so to cheer myself up I tuned in to the good old BBC weather forecast, and would you believe it - it’s a lovely day in the British Isles. I think I’ll move back there. Ah, not so fast Batman! Tomorrow it’s going to rain all over the British Isles. It’s going to rain all weekend, and most of next week. At least Spanish rain comes down all at once, and gets it all over and done with. I looked out of the window again. It’s stopped raining, sun’s out, yup, think I’ll stay.

YAKY - just loves to cuddle as he is a very small and sweet lap dog type. He has shown himself to be nice with his kennel and playmates. He is easy to handle and manage. He is a charming fellow that really deserves a nice and permanent home as we think he must once have been very happy belonging to a family before he was abandoned at PAWS.
www.paws-patas.org
Pets of the Moment GENERAL ENQUIRIES 678 490 217 TAKO - is a typical puppy - playful and happy. He feels at home in his kennel, in his playgroup and hanging out with the staff members. He is an easy and well-balanced dog.
SANDY - was callously thrown from a moving car. As a result she suffered painful foot pad injuries which required a lot of time and care to heal. Now Sandy is well and is able to enjoy some quality time at PAWS with people who care about her. She is one of the sweetest dogs we know with a soft and gentle nature. She is kind to her kennelmates and is easy for her caretakers to handle. She is a quiet dog who doesn’t ask for much, just kindness. As an older dog she won’t need too much exercise and she also has an old injury that causes a small limp. PAGE 26
OLI - is a big and handsome dog with a lot of presence. He is super friendly with people, really enjoying human company and is easy for his caretakers to handle. He gets on well with his large male kennelmate and playfriends but he cannot be homed with small dogs as he does not get on with them. He is a clever boy and can even open doors so he must be kept in a secure environment.
TIGER - 9 yrs of age, spayed. Naturally anxious at first of her new surroundings is obviously feeling more settled now and will permit us the odd stroke, be it on her terms! Tiger requires a forever home that offers her patience and stability, in a quiet household without other pets and without children. Please contact Diane 664 246 728

With seven days to retirement, he's been asked to train some new recruits. For Eddie this is one last chance to redeem an unrealised life and career. Narcotics branch cop Sal (Ethan Hawke) is in his twelfth year on the job. Struggling to make ends meet for his pregnant wife and their five children, he hopes to build them a dream home no cop could ever afford. Sal's about to put everything on the line to pursue his dream. Tango (Don Cheadle) has spent the last three years working undercover with drug dealers and killers, including 9 months in prison. More gangster than officer he wants his life, and his wife, back before it’s too late. www.advertisermojacar.com See photo right of Kevin and a load of tiddlers he caught.
The next “Anglers Together” club meeting is to be held at the Los Galayos Bar opposite the beach front, at Puerto Mazarrón on 9th October at 12 noon. This is not a match fishing club but puts likeminded fishermen together. Bit like our meetings here in the Beachcomber and we will have to organise one for the end October. The River Segura in Murcia, the Eden Canal stretch, fished well again last week. The water is low and slow moving. The “Rods and Reels” club match was won by “Stan the Man” with 22lbs. My new mate Dave with 18lbs and “Tony the Flower Man” also with 18lbs. 1st and 2nd anglers were using sweetcorn and 3rd was on bread flake. All anglers fished the pole method. “Captain Brian Cuba” and his partner “Admiral Phil” are back and a few of us went out last week the morning the heavens opened. We were joined by “Ham Radio Kevin” and “Medway Chris” and all caught a few fish although we were unable to fish the bottom of the 300 foot hole we were close to. The wind kept changing direction and we fished the side of the hole which is usually pretty useless. I fished with baited 2.0 feathered hooks to try for bigger fish but the other lads were using size 4s and 6s and were bringing up to four fish at a time measuring about 3 inches each!
Me and Chris got down to our underpants (To keep our other clothes dry) in torrential rain to drag in 300 feet of rope, chain and anchor. I tell you even though it was 30c with wind and being soaking wet I was freezing. Fish caught were pandoras, combers, pickerels and bogues. My next trip out with Brian and Phil was with Chris again and “Three Fish Richard” from Villaricos. (Used to be “No fish Richard” lol) We had a poor day and only caught a few fish and nothing decent. The following day I was again out with Brian. We were joined this time by “Inflatable Andy”, “Mike the Watch” and “Captain Paul Badger” who has a boat himself in Garrucha marina. Paul had been out the day before on his boat and caught a few very small blue fin tuna, dorados and an albacore. (The former and latter remember have to be returned now by law) All were caught trolling within 2½ miles of the shore. This day we caught dreaded weavers, (Brian got his fourth ever sting but luckily only in a bone in his thumb) pickerels, pandoras, combers and a black bream. “Captain Squiddly Sid” went out of Villaricos on his new boat, “Suzy Jane 3”, with his mate “Dennis the Menace”, they caught 15 trigger fish weighing between 2 and 4lbs. All were caught on the bottom in roughly 80 feet of water and bait was raw prawn. They also caught a few combers. “Captain Hissing Sid” and “Captain Graham Gnome” took their boat out of Garrucha with some mates and caught pandoras, weavers, triggerfish, pickerel, bogues, horse mackerel, a lizard fish and a 6lb brown rockfish. Graham put the latter back, although after I told him
how good they taste I’m not sure he would repeat the good deed. Fishing the sea bottom is difficult right now, I believe because of the explosion of small fish close to the shore and why our prawn baits are not being gobbled up by the predators. Massive shoals of tiny fish are boiling on the surface and even seagulls can’t be bothered because they are presumably full up. It’s trolling time right now, small lures on or just below the surface. Yippee! at last I’ve booked a proper fishing trip with a couple of friends, my mate Steve from Bulgaria who fished with me on my last South African trip, and Steve’s mate, Tony. We are off to Guinea Bissau on the Atlantic coast of Africa. Stuck between Senegal and Guinea it’s a bit dodgy and there was a military coup only this year in April. The army squashed the protests that followed by saying if they didn’t stop they would kill the ex president, mmm nice. Anyway the fishing is fantastic and I can’t wait. Some of you might remember it was somewhere I wanted to go, as one of the first Brits to fish there a few years ago. Since my internet enquiries the venue was picked up by a specialist fishing tour operator, Richard of worldsportfishing.com and he’s got it sorted now with flights to the country via a stop in Lisbon. (London or Malaga) That’s brilliant because we were going to hire two Gambian drivers and a vehicle and drive all the way and back from The Gambia. Richard has also organised boat fishing which is what we will be concentrating on. 10 days and 9 nights and I can’t wait, roll on March. Oh and flipping Robson Green has gone and beaten me to it and fished there first. The programme, Extreme Fishing, should be on Channel 5 soon. Hope he does a
better job than he did with that tiddler River Ebro Catfish, the big woos. (Says me envious of him!) No news from “Baza Barry” or “London Bill” this week and I have not received any other beach fishing reports. Remember that I have copies of the law in Spanish and English which allows holders of any Spanish sea fishing license to be able to fish another region’s waters. Although I know that with a sea license from any EU member country you can fish Andalucian waters, I have no proof that the opposite is true. Checkout Mojacar’s weather and sea conditions here on the Beachcomber’s webcam. www.almeriafreeads.com/ webcam For further information on any of the above or to find out about beach, boat or coarse fishing licenses, see John at the Beachcomber Bar Restaurant on Mojácar Playa or tel 950 473 099. In case of difficulty reaching me (Probably out fishing) ask staff for my mobile number. Tight Lines Beachcomber John.
