Allora Bowls Notes
Fire Ants, he played some great winning shots in the last two ends for a win over Doesn’t Matter, Lynn P and Russell were very proud of you.
ROUND 2 - Finally, after two weeks of wet Tuesday nights we were able to play Round 2 in week 4. Greg Patto was adamant that we were playing week 3 but no sooner had we started when a storm came, Lynn Patto didn’t even turn up so sure was he that there would be no play. I think you need to check the BOM site more often Greg.

On Sunday, in what was one of the most enthralling matchplay finals ever played at the Allora Club, Jason Nightingale defeated Kenny Wilson on the 18th hole. These two golfers are among the most competitive in the club which was obvious to their playing partners during the round. Jason has been close to a major win over the past few years and this victory is testament to his tenacity. He is also one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet. For Kenny to make the final was a fantastic achievement considering he defeated a number of the club’s best golfers along the way, including six time club champion Kev Harrison. Congratulations to both Jason and Kenny. (Jason is pictured following his victory with Captain Hethe and President Brooke).
Friday’s Allora Hardware Duck Run was won by Macca on 22 points with Moose runner-up on 20. NTP won by Macca, approach by Kev and long putt by Dave Dwan. Great to see our local newsagent Dave out having a serious hit of golf. The only problem we had was getting him to go home after the round. Thanks Allora Hardware for the sponsorship.
Sunday we played for a club trophy with Kev the winner with an impressive 41 points from Macca on 36 in a countback from Moose. Next week will be the Ty Gardner Monthly Medal. Club Championships will be played over the weekends of 4th/5th and 11th/12th March.
We are concerned that a number of players are mistreating the golf carts and they are being returned in a damaged state. Of particular concern is people standing on the back of the cart. All members are requested to keep an eye out for this type of behaviour and call it out.
The course is in fantastic condition and everyone is encouraged to go out and enjoy it. See you on the links.

After a wonderful, well-supported Show I would like to sincerely thank everyone who made this Show such a success. Without all our sponsors, volunteers, exhibitors, stewards, judges and helpers this would not have been possible. We had great weather, hot but not wet and people came from near and far to enjoy two days of fun filled action. Over 600 horse events in 6 rings going all day and over 600 dog entries which has to be some sort of record. Once again thanks to everyone who helped and visited our 145th Allora Show.
