The Kingsthorpe State School Parents and Citizens Association and the Cooyar Agricultural Society have been named recipients of Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) grants.

The Kingsthorpe group will receive $35,000 to install fans and equipment. The Cooyar Agricultural Society will now be able to fit out its canteen facilities thanks to a $31,239.45 grant from the program. A total of 466 recipients will share in close to $11 million from the latest round of the GCBF program. Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman congratulated the grant recipients. ”Investing in Queensland communities is part of our plan for economic recovery, especially in rural and regional areas,” she said. “These not-for-profit and community groups do fantastic work across Queensland keeping our economy strong by supporting our locals.” Ms Fentiman encouraged Oakey region groups to get their applications into the next round of grants. “Round 111 recently opened and I would strongly encourage any community group looking to enhance their services to jump online and get an application in for funding,” she said. The fund provides grants of up to $35,000 for groups to fund local projects that benefit communities. Round 111 will close midnight 31 August 2021.
