Chloe & Eric Baker have been together for seven years and are parents to two little girls, three-year-old Poppy and almost two-year old, Elsie.

“We loved having our girls a part of our big day, even though Poppy called out to Eric as she was coming down the aisle and started crying because she wanted her dad! They were the most beautiful flower girls,” laughed Chloe.

They were married at a local venue in Kialla West, because they adored the aesthetics of the garden and function space.

Chloe has some sound advice for the wedding planning process, which consists of selecting the crucial special day must-haves and get those things organised first, and booking hair, makeup, photographer, videographer and venue at least 12 months in advance.

“Above all, don’t sweat the small stuff. Your day is going to be so magical even if you have some hiccups or things don’t go 100% to plan, just relax and enjoy yourselves!”

Melanie + Tim

Melanie & Tim played badminton together as teenagers, then reconnected on a night out in Shepparton in 2013 at the GV Hotel, marking this year as their 10th anniversary.

They had their first dance at their entrance into the reception, setting the party mood for the rest of the evening. They took lessons in preparation for their big day, which gave them the opportunity to spend some quality time together in the lead up to the wedding.

The best advice they have for couples planning their wedding day is to make sure it encompasses everything they want, and not to get caught up in pleasing everyone.

“If traditional isn’t for you, change it up! Also, communicating to each other about what parts of the day are most important to each other is key to you both enjoying the day,” said Melanie.

Reet + Harry

Reet & Harry met through mutual friends in 2021, and after three attempts to get married in the throes of lockdowns, they finally were able to tie the knot here in Shepparton.

Both Reet & Harry belong to Sikh culture and speak Punjabi, and they required a location which had a Gurudwara, a holy place to perform religious ceremony, to accommodate their wedding. After trying their luck in Melbourne and Geelong, with both those ceremonies cancelled mere hours beforehand, they finally tied the knot.

Reet did her own makeup, and bought a designer dress (bridal lehnga) from a celebrity designer in Pakistan which unfortunately, she wasn't able to wear as restrictions dictated they have a small wedding with 10 guests. Reet instead chose a salwar suit for her wedding as lehnga is something you normally wear in bigger gatherings, but rest assured, they will have a big reception in India one day.

“We laugh about it now because the most important thing for us is being together and our mutual commitment to spending our life together and embarking on a new journey. Big or small wedding, wasn't a big deal,” said Harry.

“We feel everything didn't really go as per our plans, but rather the plan destiny chose for us. Shepparton will always have a special place in our hearts as we shared the very important moments of our life creating beautiful memories, that we will cherish forever.”

Abby + James

Abby & James Simpson have been together for eight years, after a summer courtship filled with Cold Rock Ice Creams. Their joint vision of getting married outdoors by a river, surrounded by beautiful trees, came to fruition without a hitch thanks to James’ predilection for excel spreadsheets.

“It was super helpful to oversee all aspects of our day and track our spending, quotes, suppliers, guest list etc,” said Abby.

“On that note, using local suppliers was invaluable, they’re familiar with the area and they have their heart in the events they work on. We also recommend getting an event planner onboard to assist, if possible, in hindsight, it would have been super helpful to have someone manage the lead up and coordination of the day.”

Abby & James stayed at the property they were married at, along with their families, which meant the wedding celebrations extended across a few days. As a parting gift to their 150 guests, they hand-made strawberry jam and pickles.

Amy & Karl met 8 years ago through friends after Karl spotted a photo of Amy on Facebook. He sent her an inbox message, and the rest is history!

They wanted to ensure their loved ones felt a part of their big day, so they had their parents, siblings and niece all have special roles at the wedding and included them as much as possible.

“We did bridal party dance entrances to really get the party going,” said Amy.

McQuilton Productions is a videography and photography powerhouse, comprising of a husband-and-wife duo who work seamlessly together to capture celebrations, with combined photography and videography packages. After demand for videography grew, Skyla joined the team in early 2022 to enable them to capture more than one wedding in a weekend.

The team complement each other well with Aleesha’s bubbly and directive personality to provide fun and laughter, mixed with Aidan’s composure and attention to detail to ensure every moment is captured and the time runs on schedule.

Aleesha is the video editor and has a passion for telling each couple’s unique love story in her highlight film edits from footage captured on the day.

MAKING DIAMOND DREAMS A REALITY

Goulburn Valley locals Clarissa and Kristian turned to Diamond Storm Designs when they decided to embark on the journey of designing Clarissa’s dream engagement ring.

They worked with proprietors of Blizzards, and jewellery designing duo Kara and Craig to create the perfect ring.

“A friend recommended that we visit Blizzards and explore their custom designs. We were also really happy that we were able to support local,” said Clarissa

“We had an idea of what we wanted but had not seen anything close in a store. From our initial appointment, we knew that Blizzards was the right fit for us.”

Kara and Craig ensured the process was straightforward and focused on ensuring the finished ring was a piece Clarissa will treasure forever.

“Making such an important purchase can be intimidating but they were able to answer any questions we had along the way and helped create our vision within a budget that suited us. They were so welcoming and made us feel comfortable every step of the way,” Clarissa said.

Clarissa and Kristian want other local couples to know that you don’t have to travel to Melbourne to get the ring of your dreams made and commend Diamond Storm Designs on their outstanding service and workmanship.

“We were amazed as it was absolutely perfect and so special. We were so happy with the design images, but it looked spectacular in real life,” said Clarissa.

Kylie + Mick

Aftera random Facebook add, Kylie & Mick talked for months before meeting up on the side of the road in 2014. On the day of their first meeting, Mick took Kylie back home to meet his family. This year, they celebrated nine years together, and are parents to five children, Willow 8, Wyatt 6, Marcel 4, Elijah 2, and Desmond, 11 months old.

When Willow was almost one, Mick proposed to Kylie at a red traffic light, culminating in their wedding taking place in October 2022.

“We got married when the floods had just gone down but still covering some roads, which made the Groom late to his own wedding!” laughed Kylie.

“Think strong winds, mosquitoes and mud. My veil kept covering everyone. Mick tried putting the ring on the wrong hand and was so sure it was the right one. The kids went crazy for the photobooth with the backdrop we made ourselves. I danced in my slippers for the reception, and I got changed into my pj's towards the end of the night to finish off the reception.”

Kylie & Mick are the epitome of wedding day plans gone awry, but they had an amazing day and wouldn’t change it for the world.
