The 2030 Greater Victoria Commonwealth Games Bid, known as the ‘People’s Games,’ is one step closer with the GVCG Taskforce having recently begun looking at having a prefeasibility study undertaken and looking at realistic potential bid dates. With 2030 being the centenary of the first ever Commonwealth Games which was held in Canada, it is believed that Canada has already expressed its eagerness to host at this time, it was therefore suggested that pending the outcome of the prefeasibility scope, that 2034 could be more realistic for a Greater Victoria bid. Now it’s up to the judges... THE TASTE buds of the judges for this year’s Dookie Wine Show were dancing on Tuesday, with each of them giving their thoughts on the top drops submitted for the 15th year of the illustrious event. Head judge, Simon Killeen, who is a fifth generation winemaker from Stanton and Killeen in Rutherglen, said, “From our first tastes,
there are immediately a lot of good fresh wines. High calibre judges have been sourced from around the nation for this event and due to the quality of the wines, of all of the shows I’ve judged, Dookie Wine Show is one of my personal favourites. Continued on page 16
