Originating from South Africa, the full cherry red, stable Gala mutation yields a crisp, fragrant and sweet cream flesh. Grown on most popular rootstocks, the fruit is of typical Gala size with a flat-globose shape.
In full bloom from early to mid-October the fruit is well served by a one-pick strategy and is ready to harvest in mid-February.
Wanting to try even more new apples? Alvina Gala apples have proven their worth over the last few years and are visually striking with a solid red blush.
This medium conical/globose apple is sweet and juicy with a cream flesh and suits rootstocks M26 and Nic®29. Alvina Gala Apples thrive on upright, spreading trees and are characterised by medium, vigorous growth.
Originating from New Zealand and producing a bright pinkred skin with white-cream coloured flesh are the late variety Lady in Red apples. A grower friendly fruit, it is a mutation of the Cripps pink apple and has a high proportion of its crop picked in the first of its two-pick strategy.
Lady in Red apples are a match for rootstocks CG202, M26, MM102 and MM106.
Pears are also available for winter planting at Olea Nurseries with Packham Triumph and Josephine on dwarf Quince rootstock ready to be ordered and delivered.
