CALLING all artists: A new art contest organised by the Greater Shepparton City Council has officially been launched.

'A Cup of Shepp and GV’ provides a great opportunity for artists of all ages and backgrounds to express their creativity and capture the essence of the unique towns within the Shepparton and Goulburn Valley region.

Participants are encouraged to use their favourite physical media technique to create an original artwork representing one of the following communities: Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura, Dookie, and Murchison. Submissions will be accepted through the Council's website, and a professional judging panel will assess and judge the shortlisted pieces.

There will be a total of five winners, with one art piece selected for each town. The winners will be announced on Monday, August 14, 2023, through the Shepparton & Goulburn Valley social media channels, namely Facebook and Instagram. The finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony, where the winning artworks will be revealed, and prizes, including an art package with art supplies, entry to an art workshop and more, will be presented.

The winning artworks will be featured in a limited-edition print run of coffee cups, which will be displayed in cafes and restaurants throughout the Shepparton and Goulburn Valley region, providing a unique opportunity for the winners' artworks to reach a wide audience and showcase the who welcome anyone who is interested in giving plein air a go.
