Turning the sod and the beginning of an exciting $20 million expansion of La Trobe University Shepparton. The redevelopment will include high-tech clinical space, expanded library, modern study areas and flexible space for community events. At La Trobe I met Aakrati, who is studying Education. It is exciting to see the University’s expansion including more course offerings.

Fight Cancer Foundation
I recently met with Cara Davey from the Fight Cancer Foundation, which provides low-cost accommodation for cancer patients and carers near GV Health.
Stage 2 of the GV Health redevelopment includes an integrated cancer centre. Cara and the Foundation aspire to increase their accommodation and support at their current site. This opportunity will be lost without a commitment and finalisation of the next stage of GV Health’s redevelopment. To learn about the Foundation’s accommodation, call 9342 7888 or visit www.fightcancer.org.au
New office update
We will be relocating to my new office at 318 Wyndham Street, Shepparton mid-September.
Out and about
With no Parliament this month, I have been out and about catching up with my constituents across the electorate. New businesses, sporting events, service clubs, community houses and much more. Contact my office if you would like me to speak at or attend your event or to arrange a catch up.
The award was accepted by Franchisee Rod Poliness. The conference took place in June 2023 in Bali, Indonesia and brought together over 300 franchisees, suppliers, and associates from across Australia to celebrate and recognise excellence within the business.
The conference served as a platform to showcase the achievements of the Goodyear Autocare network and discuss future growth strategies. It was a significant event, being the largest in Goodyear Autocare history.
"Ever since the business started back in the 1950s, we have always striven to maintain the highest standard of service and this award reflects that,” Rod said.
"While this is a great achievement, none of it would have been possible without the ongoing support of our wonderful staff and the community. It's been so rewarding growing the business into what it is today.”
The judging criteria for the award included Sales Performance, Store Presentation and Customer Service among others. Rod was presented the award at the conference’s Gala Dinner. Other State and National winners and inductees into the Goodyear Hall of Fame were also announced during the event.
“We are so fortunate to have such a large and unified group of franchisees who are passionate about their work and are committed to the Goodyear Autocare brand,” said David Stafford, Franchising & Licensing Director for Goodyear & Dunlop Tyres.
“These awards are our opportunity to recognise this commitment and excellence across the Goodyear Autocare store network. Goodyear Autocare Shepparton epitomises our desire to be the local community’s Tyre & Auto Experts. I extend my congratulations to the team, thank them for their loyalty over the years and for setting the benchmark for our network,” David Stafford said.

Focus on rental property owners to continue
ATO started focusing on rental property tax deductions after a report in 2022 found that 9 out of 10 tax returns having rental properties had at least one mistake even if prepared by registered agents. As such ATO will continue to check tax returns having exorbitant expenses, especially repairs that are incorrectly claimed instead as renovation which is not fully claimable in one year.
Removing $250 reduction for self-education expenses
Earlier, eligible expenses for self-education used to be reduced by $250. The reduction has been done away meaning it will benefit students.
Working from home
Under revised fixed rate method, taxpayers can now claim 67C per hour to do work from home. On top of this, taxpayer can also claim tax deduction for depreciating assets such as office furniture.
Crypto and other financial transactions
Over the past few years, many taxpayers have invested in Crypto currencies and also other types of financial asset transactions like CFD. Often, people forget to keep proper record and advise their accountant. It is taxpayers' duty to declare these transactions.
Small business training boost deduction
Small businesses having turnover of less than 50 million can claim an additional 20% tax deduction known as boost
