y story begins in São Paulo, Brazil, one of the biggest metropolises in the world. After earning my degree, I tried to find myself by seeking a career and money as people often do. But one day I read Matthew 6:33, which says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”* I had read this text before, but this time it made more sense. I was building a solid career as a graphic designer at a big company and was on my way to reaching my goals. But as I looked at my life, I could see that I had been trying to satisfy only myself and I wasn’t happy. One day a friend told me about the Adventist Volunteer Service Web site, and I started searching for positions to apply for. I didn’t have much money, but I felt that God was telling me not to worry because He had everything planned. I asked my church for support and they sponsored me, paying for everything I needed and offering encouragement as well. At first, I wanted to go to Kazakhstan, but then I felt impressed to go teach English in Majuro in the Marshall Islands.
