The Rock From The Sidelines

The White Rock Marathon is one of the few occasions in your life where you can actually yell to tell someone “where to go” and they appreciate it [Advocate Back Talk blog, “Ways to Give”].

Not many things in this city promote more civic pride then the marathon. This is a great thing to volunteer for.

As soon as the runners began flying through the intersection, neighbors started filing in. Everyone was cheering on the runners — by name, if we could see their bibs. And, most remarkably, the exhausted runners thanked the officers and crowd as they continued through Lakewood.

Lights Out In Lakewood

My son came home last night saying he heard the power outage was caused by the big beautiful tree that’s all lit up on the corner of Lakewood and Lakeshore [Advocate Back Talk blog, “Power out in parts of Lakewood”]. Too many lights! I take it with a grain of salt, but it makes for a good rumor.

I told my husband that there must have been a “brownout” due to all the Lakewood yard and home decorations! They are all just beautiful this year. Seems like everyone went all out. I guess high electric bills are no problem for Lakewood residents. What recession?
