Circumcise Me

$20-$30 Yisrael Campbell should be an expert on Judaism by now — he converted three times.

First, he tried Reform Judaism, then Conservatism, and finally joined the Orthodox movement and now lives in Jerusalem. Campbell brings his one-man comedy show to the Jewish Community Center, recounting his journey through jokes, stories and slideshows. Born in suburban Philadelphia and raised Roman Catholic, Campbell pokes fun at religion in general while chronicling his own quest for a relationship with God. He’s no stranger to theater and stand-up comedy, having studied at Circle in a Square Theater Company in New York City. Campbell also works with the PalestinianIsraeli Comedy Tour, a group that uses comedy to advocate peace in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Keep an eye out for an upcoming documentary film about Campbell. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Jewish Community Center’s Zale Auditorium, 7900 Northaven. Admission is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Senior citizens receive a $5 discount. 214.739.2737.jccdallas.org or circumcisemetheplay.com. —EMILY
