Methodist Family Health Center opens in Preston Hollow

Located just west of Midway on Northwest Highway, the new Preston Hollow branch of the Methodist Family Health Center is open for appointments between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Head physician Dr. Jennifer Bang, a strong advocate of screening and preventative medicine, and her staff offer general family care as well as allergy treatment and back-to-school physicals.

Sprinkles Ice Cream now open in Plaza at Preston Center

Sprinkles Ice Cream in the Plaza at Preston Center includes classics like vanilla and strawberry as well as funky flavors such as salty caramel or cap’n crunch. Non-dairy sorbets, shakes, malts, root beer floats, cookies, red velvet waffle cones and brownies also are on the menu. The confection pictured also highlights the most innovative ice cream topping: a Sprinkles cupcake top. This is the third Sprinkles Ice Cream location to open since the first one opened in Beverly Hills last year.

Sub chain Capriotti’s opens in Preston Center

Capriotti’s is now open in the old Extreme Pizza spot in Preston Center. The chain has two other locations in DFW and serves up Italian-style subs. The menu features made-to-order hot and cold sandwiches, kid lunches and interesting veggie options such as the veggie cheese steak: hot vegetarian chicken and melted provolone on a toasted roll.

Cedars Woodfire Grill comes to Cooper Athletic Center

Cedars Woodfire Grill, located inside the Cooper Fitness Center at Churchill and Preston, is now open daily for breakfast and lunch, and Monday to Saturday for dinner. This is the first Dallas location for Cedars, which has two other locations in Frisco and Plano. The restaurant serves up healthy, casual food and takes pride in serving fresh, not frozen, meat and never using a fryer or microwave. The restaurant is part of the fitness center’s $6.5 million renovation, which started last summer which is scheduled to be complete by early fall.

1 The uber healthy Austin-based eatery Snap Kitchen is looking to open a location in Preston Hollow by early 2014. The restaurant, which caters to vegans, gluten-free diets and other healthy diets, also serves house-made cold-pressed juice.

2 Mi Piaci Ristorante italiano is now open for lunch and dinner in Preston Center. The restaurant boasts two stories of indoor and al fresco dining. Upstairs, guests can dine on a large patio with a retractable ceiling. A wine bar called Enoteca also is upstairs.
