Position Description for Residential Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter STATUS: Exempt

Job Summary The Direct Care Staff Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of direct care staff working in the residential program.

Qualification Summary Education & Experience  Four years of experience in a residential facility OR Two years of experience working for DFCS OR Masters of Social Work required.  Four years of working with children required.  Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Criminal Background Check  Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen. Physical Requirements  Physical work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  A valid driver’s license obtained in the United States in order to drive a motorized vehicle. Critical Thinking Skills  Be able to positively motivate and lead a team, conveying information and ideas clearly and effectively.  Be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.  Be able to work well in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity.  Be able to identify potential issues and then develop methodologies to prevent or limit the impact of those issues.  Be able to effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns and issues expressed by employees and residents.  Be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and perform basic math functions. Technology and Communication Skills  Word Processing and Excel skills to prepare business correspondence and reports with speed and accuracy.  Skill in writing grammatically correct, routine business correspondence such as letters, invitations, meeting minutes, and other documents as required.  Ability to make group presentations to provide information or explain procedures, policies, etc.

Duties and Functions         

Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate all employees in the residential program. Facilitate employee reviews within thirty days of review date. Schedule staff accordingly to maximize resources using client need and cost-effectiveness as primary tools for measure. Review Workforce Portal at the end of each pay period before payroll is submitted. Assist in conducting interviews, hiring, documentation, and all necessary orientation processes of all applicants. Maintain staffing data in GA+Score. Facilitate/Coordinate staff training sessions. Ensure all staff attend and meet the required mandatory training sessions provided by the agency. Ensure that all staff are updated on any changes to policies and procedures. 1 of 2
