INSIDE LEXUS LUXURY A MESSAGE FROM LEXUS OF SOUTHPORT SALES MANAGER CAMERON SHIPARD In what can only be described as an unprecedented year in more ways than one, we can finally see some clarity through the storm clouds of COVID-19 and the subsequent economic effects that were present throughout the year of 2020. After the panic that set in from March and April last year, never would I have expected to encounter the issue of demand well and truly outstripping supply of our New Vehicles from June until now. We are starting to find a balance now with New Vehicle stock beginning to return to healthy levels and enquiry returning to a more manageable state. Lexus of Southport is abuzz with excitement as we have just received our first few examples of the incredibly gorgeous LC500C V8 Cabriolet. This vehicle commands so much attention when in traffic and it is certainly not for the socially anxious. As I write, we are also excited to now be receiving consistent batches of the latest iteration of the ever popular IS Sports Sedan range, which has just received a major face lift and overhaul. In a sea of SUVs, we still see Luxury Sports Sedans as a very important part of our inventory and the Lexus IS is a vehicle that has well and truly developed a cult following since its release in 1999. Moving toward throughout the early stages of 2021, I can safely say we are all looking forward to a year of some stability, borders being open and general life returning to as normal as we can possibly expect.

To achieve this, building wealth and creating an investment portfolio can seem extremely difficult to anyone who’s only familiar with financial products such as bank accounts and term deposits. In recent years, we have seen a huge increase in the number of people investing their savings and surplus cash flow in ways other than savings accounts or term deposits. According to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), close to 9 million Australians hold investments outside of superannuation or their home with more than half investing in assets such as direct shares, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), Managed Funds, Managed Accounts (SMAs) or property.

MANAGED FUNDS A managed fund involves pooling together money from different investors into one fund that is invested and controlled by a professional investment manager. The main benefit of using managed funds is that the investor can choose a fund that is suited to their needs and objectives. The level of risk that a managed fund attracts will depend entirely on the individual fund that you choose. Therefore, a major part of our planning process involves knowing your risk-profile prior to making the right decision in selecting these funds. Typically speaking, a managed fund aims to outperform an indexed market as part of its investment strategy allowing investors to reap higher returns over other types of investments such as an ETF.
