Welcome to the 2025 Guardian Angels’ Catholic School Business Directory! It is hard to believe this is our 4th edition of our business directory. Guardian Angels’ is immensely proud of our strong bond and connection between staff, students and parents and this publication aims to foster this bond even more. This publication allows our families access to key information to support the school year and a range of businesses within the school community. The businesses advertising in the directory are either families in the school or have a strong connection to Guardian Angels’. Our hope is that all families can confidently use these businesses in the knowledge that they will be looked after.
At Guardian Angels’ our key focus is on preparing each student for the ever-changing world in which we live. We are committed to cultivating the gifts and potential of each person, entrusting them to shape and enrich our world. When young children start school, they bring an innate sense of curiosity, wonder and excitement. These powerful attributes, when complemented by our educational programs and facilities, allow each student to achieve remarkable outcomes. Last year we launched a new logo which more closely aligns with our school colours, school name, history and Mercy traditions.

Meet the Leadership Team
When I think about GA, our community is the one thing that I know makes us special. There is a real sense of welcome here at our school.
My favourite place at GA is the Quad. It is a place where all students come through as they move around the school, buy some lunch from the tuck shop, visit the library or music centre or play a game at the ping pong tables, it is always a busy place.
I support staff and students each day in their learning and teaching as well as working with staff to facilitate the daily running of the school
My favourite food is a shared plate with family and friends, it is something that I very much enjoy.
My favourite book is my Hema Australian Road and 4WD Atlas because I love travelling around our wonderful country from the bustling cities to the remoteness of the outback, we have the best country in the world!

When I think about GA, I feel a sense of family. GA is such a welcoming and caring community that belonging to this family makes me feel like I am home.
My favourite place at GA is any of the classrooms. I love to connect with students and talk with them about their passions, their learning and how they are progressing.
I support staff and students with fostering their spirituality and work closely with teachers to develop rich learning opportunities that focus on building knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Christian faith.
My favourite food is the Pappardelle Ragu or the Melanzane Lasagne at Sogno Italiano.
My favourite book is ‘The Power of One’ by Bryce Courtenay because it provides a compelling message about the difference that just one person can make to the lives of others through the transformative energy of love, empathy and compassion.

When I think about GA, I feel at home. This community holds such a special place in my heart. I feel very grateful to be able to share the experience with my children.
My favourite place at GA is the garden. It is a place of peace, harmony and wonder. Watching the students being able to collaboratively care for their environment while learning about the world around them is a delight.
I support the staff and students at GA to ensure we provide the best learning opportunities.
My favourite food is spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino. This simple but delicious dish became a hot favourite while travelling through Italy.
The Help is my favourite book because it masterfully blends humour, heart, and history into a story that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page. The characters are so vividly written that you feel like you’re sitting in their kitchens, sharing secrets over a cup of coffee. Plus, who doesn’t love a book that reminds you of the power of courage and kindness, all while making you laugh out loud?

Our Parish
At Guardian Angels’, families, school and parish work together as partners in the spiritual formation and education of our children. From the very beginnings, Guardian Angels’ has been steeped in a rich Catholic tradition that stems from the close connection we have with our Church community. Father Gerard McMorrow is the Parish Priest and has a strong and positive interest in our school community.
Our students are encouraged to actively participate in the Parish through Liturgies, Class and Family Masses, Altar Serving and through the Parish-Based Sacramental Program. Sacramental preparation, through the Parish-Based Sacramental Program, is for students wishing to celebrate Baptism, Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. By promoting and aspiring towards the values implicit in the Gospels, it is our intention that all students at Guardian Angels Strive for Success.

Innovators & Inventors at GA
We are Innovators and Inventors at GA!
Students at Guardian Angels’ are provided with a range of opportunities to innovate and invent. Students in Year 5 and 6, have access to our robotics club while—our GA Inventors’ Academy for Year 3 and 4 students aims to provide a dynamic platform for fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills outside the conventional classroom setting. Centred around design thinking, making, and creating, this program offers students the opportunity to explore their interests, develop essential skills, and unleash their potential through hands-on activities and collaborative projects.
Innovation and Invention Mission:
Our mission is to empower young minds to become innovative thinkers, confident creators, and effective problem solvers. By engaging students in immersive learning experiences, we strive to cultivate a culture of curiosity, resilience, and collaboration, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow.
Objectives:
• Foster Creativity: Using our Learning Power Cozmo Creative, we will encourage students to think outside the box, explore new ideas, and express themselves creatively through various design and making activities.
• Develop Critical Thinking: Stimulate students' critical thinking skills by presenting them with real-world problems and guiding them through the process of ideation, analysis, and solution implementation.
• Enhance Collaboration: Using our Learning Power Coolio Collaborative, we will promote teamwork, communication, and cooperation among students through group projects and collaborative problem-solving exercises.

GA Swimming
We are privileged to have our own pool. Swimming is an integral part of our school. We run in school lessons for all students.
There is also opportunity to participate in our before or after school swimming programme. We have our very own GA Swim Club, with swimmer competing at meets on the Gold Coast. We support GA students at all levels of swimming opportunities- school, Catholics, Districts, State and Nationals. Stay Connected at GA
All parents who enrol children at Guardian Angels‘ are part of a wonderful community. We have a “Class Angel” for each class who attends meetings termly with the leadership team. They connect with parents in their class to suggest improvements, voice concerns and communicate with the school.
We also ask parents to help with some key events through our “Just One Thing” model where we provide community and student events. Each year we send a list of main community events and ask parents to help with “Just One Thing”. Committees are formed to help organise and run our community events.
Attendance
We all want our students to get a great education and, as we know, the building blocks for success in learning begin with students coming to school each day. Brisbane Catholic Education’s approach to supporting student attendance has a focus on every student on time every day. There are 5 key principles:
1. Attendance is everyone’s responsibility
2. Engage with the school community and families on the importance of attendance
3. Celebrate and acknowledge high attendance
4. Support and re-engage students with attendance below the expected benchmark
5. Track, monitor and follow up on unexplained absences.
We want to ensure that students achieve their optimum capacity by being at school when they are well. The tables illustrate away days that equate for time at school.
Stay Connected at GA
Communication between school and home is certainly an important factor in the day-to-day functioning of schools and homes. Knowing what is happening when and why helps households plan the week for uniforms or sporting days for example and teachers appreciate being advised of anything that may affect their students’ ability to learn. Our school is like a small town and there are always lots of things happening each week so your teacher will send a weekly email to their class parents giving an overview of the week ahead and reminders if required. Guardian Angels’ provides a newsletter each Tuesday which is emailed out to parents.This email really helps with keeping up to date with school events and general information from around the school.

Outside of School Offerings
We have many activities that are available outside of school hours. Swimming is the only activity at this stage before school. Guardian Angels’ staff also offer a Runners Club before school at different times of the year which is linked to athletics and sporting events.

The Uniform Shop is a service provided by the school for the benefit of the school community. It stocks the entire school uniform, with the exception of school shoes. It is operated by the school, with the profits from the sale of uniforms going to assist the running of the school.

Tuckshop and process
The Tuckshop
The Tuckshop is a service provided by the school for the benefit of the school community. Only Flexischools ONLINE orders are accepted. Children cannot order using a bag and cash. Orders will not be accepted after 8.40am. The school employs a Tuckshop Manager Mrs Rachel Nowlan, but your help is always requested to allow us to maintain a daily tuckshop service. Our menu has been developed with the Queensland Government Healthy Choices Strategy as our guide.
