PRISM PRISM
PRISM aims to create and provide a safe, supportive and respectful space in MSHS for those who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community, and those who wish to be an ally.
Mr. Mac, Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Ford, support both junior and senior students in PRISM meetings each week.
In 2024, PRISM Students and the MSHS School community celebrated LGBTQI+ students and their allies by embracing two key celebrations of diversity: IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia) and Wear it Purple Day.
TOURISM 2024
Certificate II Cookery
This year, our largest group of students from various schools across the Sunshine Coast have had a phenomenal exeperience, working with Honeysuckle Chef & TAFE QLD (RTO) Trainer; Nathan Rumble.
Students receive comprehensive training across various aspects of cookery, helping them refine their natural talents while gaining valuable, work-ready skills.
Throughout the year, our future chefs hosted several service events, including staff morning teas and multiple five-course luncheons, serving up to 70 community guests each week! A special thanks goes to our Certificate II and III Hospitality students for delivering outstanding front-of-house service.
Skills for Work & Vocational Pathways Certificate II Skills
for Work & Vocational Pathways
This year, many of our Year 10 students completed the Certificate II in Skills for Work & Vocational Pathways course.
Throughout the course, students enhanced their communication abilities, strengthened their literacy and numeracy skills, and set clear employment go
The highlight of the year was the work experience week and mock interviews. Engagement was highly successful, with nearly 200 students completing five days of work experience across a variety of industries, including education, childcare, allied health, hospitality, mechanics, landscaping, civil construction, electrical, tiling, and carpentry. We are immensely grateful to the many local businesses that offered our students invaluable industry exposure and to those who signed students into SATs following their work experience.
Students also prepared a resume and cover letter in preparation for the Mock Interviews where interviewers provided valuable feedback on various interview techniques. This year, our panel of interviewers was highly impressed, with the unanimous opinion that they would have employed the vast majority of students that were interviewed!
We extend our appreciation to Alexandra Headland Rotary club, members from the Sunshine Coast Council and CEA Group for generously volunteering their time to participate in this year’s Mock Interview Program.
