Join us for our 2022 Hope for the Holidays Gala in Sioux Falls! This event will be held on November 4th at The District here in Sioux Falls. The evening will be an elegant, seated meal type of night with a short program and some live/silent auction items to bid on. We will have a patient story, some entertainment, and the chance to support cancer research both locally and at the national level. We have a lot of great people, including our outstanding co-chairs Micki Lundin and Stacy Wrightsman, involved in our event planning this year. Our planning committee has been hard at work to truly elevate this event and make it both an entertaining/successful fundraiser which will help us serve an even greater number of patients. We’re confident it will be a night to remember!

Event Co-Chairs, Micki Lundin and Stacy Wrightsman, say, “We are both so proud to come together and lead the Board of Ambassadors’ planning of the ACS Hope For the Holidays Gala this year. We wanted to do this so that the American Cancer Society is highlighted as a strong partner to both Avera and Sanford in the fight against cancer, and in the fight for a cure. Raising dollars for research benefits both health systems locally, as it supports the work we all do to find the very best treatments for the patients we serve.”

The Sioux Falls Gala brings together a premier group of businesses, organizations, and area professionals to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and local support of patient services.

The American Cancer Society exists because the burden of cancer is unacceptably high. We are the only organization that integrates advocacy, discovery, and direct patient support to measurably improve the lives of cancer patients and their families. Cancer affects everyone, but it doesn’t affect everyone equally. We are working to ensure everyone has a fair and just opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

With local support, we can continue to reduce the burden of cancer for local patients and their families. Proceeds that we raise at the Sioux Falls Gala will allow the American Cancer Society to continue funding the life-saving research that helps South Dakota cancer patients every single day.

Cancer directly touches the lives of people throughout our community. Our distinguished and community events to align allow community members to help us fight back against a disease that has, or will, touch nearly every friend, family member, colleague, neighbor, or loved one: • 6 in 10 people have had an immediate family member or close friend with cancer. • 1 in 4 people have served as a caregiver to someone with cancer. • 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will develop cancer during their lifetime.

From 1991 to 2019, there has been a 32% decline in cancer mortality. We can directly track declines in the overall cancer death rate by investment in advocacy, discovery, and direct patient support. The American Cancer Society’s new goal of reducing cancer death rates in the United States by 40% by 2035 is only possible through the support of businesses, donors, and volunteers in our community and throughout the country.

The bottom line is that with your support, the American Cancer Society can save even more lives every day. We hope that you can join us for our 2022 Hope for the Holidays Gala!
