INFORMATION PACKAGE Welcome to the ASAA 3A Boys Basketball Provincial Championships. Holy Trinity Catholic High School is proud to be the host of the boys’ provincial championship, which will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic High School and at Father Mercredi Catholic High School. We hope you enjoy your weekend of great basketball, team play and sportsmanship on and off the court.

OPENING CEREMONIES All teams are to be in their teams dressed in warm up gear and ready for opening ceremonies by 9:00AM on Thursday, March 19th, at Holy Trinity Catholic High School. BANQUET INFORMATION The banquet is being held at the Suncor Center for the Performing Arts Theatre located in Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Attendance at the banquet is compulsory for all team members and coaches. Banquet tickets must be ordered online on the Registration Page by Monday, March 16, 2015 at 12:00 noon. The banquet is for athletes, managers, trainers, statisticians, coaches and a limited number of parents. The maximum number of tickets per team is 16. The dress code for the banquet is SEMI FORMAL. PHOTOGRAPHS AND ACTION SHOTS The ASAA requires team photographs for its yearbook. All teams will have their pictures taken Thursday, March 19th from 10:30-12:30. Photographs will be taken by Ron Scott Photography. Ten-minute time slots are being scheduled. We would ask that you arrive early for your scheduled time. Time is critical, so please be prompt and ready for your photos.

ADDITIONAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION Coaches Meeting There will be a coaches meeting on Thursday, March 19 at 8:15am in the Holy Trinity Junior Gym. Please ensure you have a representative at this meeting as this is where pertinent championship information is provided and fees are collected. Entry fee and banquet fees must be brought to the Coaches Meeting. The agenda will address tournament information, officiating, expectations, appeal procedures and Opening Ceremonies information. Captains Meeting There will be a captain’s meeting on Thursday, March 19 at 8:15am at Holy Trinity in Room 192. Please ensure your team captain attends this meeting as this is where pertinent championship information where Opening Ceremonies, Lunch Details, GIMMICS, Awards Procedures, Competition Procedure and Schedule, Officials, First Aid and Athletic Therapy and Photographs and Action Shots will be addressed

http://76.12.105.174/page.cfm?p=2712 Practice times will be available in the Holy Trinity Varsity and Junior Gyms on: Wednesday, March 18 – from 3:30 PM – 9:45 PM (Last booking at 9:00 PM) Change Rooms Change rooms will be available for use at all facilities, however there are no showers available. No valuables should be left in the change rooms. Please note: No school hosting games will be held responsible for lost or stolen articles. Please ensure valuables are safely stored. Team Rooms Team rooms will NOT be available. Locker rooms can be used immediately prior to and following matches. Of course, personal items should not be left in the rooms unless locked in a locker. None of the venues are responsible for lost or stolen items. Coaches and Officials Room A hospitality room will be available for coaches and officials at both venues throughout the tournament. A variety of snacks, hot food & beverages will be available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Medical Athletic assistance is the responsibility of each individual team. Ice and minor first aid supplies will be available at both locations, and if there is a major injury, emergency services will be called. Teams must bring their own medical supplies and plan to do their own taping. Concession Thursday and Friday are school days and both school eateries will be open during the lunch hours (Holy Trinity 11:15am-1pm and Father Mecredi 11:55am-1:40pm). There are also numerous restaurants near both schools. On Saturday, and after school hours, there will be a concession available at both venues. Souvenir Apparel Gimmics will be on site at Holy Trinity Catholic High School only.


Spectator Admission Rates & Programs There will be no charge for regular tournament games. For playoff games, which begin Friday, March 20th at 6pm, there will be a one time admission fee of $5. Spectators will receive a tournament program with this fee which will act as their ticket for all playoff games. Parking All visitors will be able to park in the lot next to both participating schools and entry should be from the main doors.

GAME RULES AND INFORMATION Game/Practice Balls The official game ball will be the Spalding Top Flite 1000 Basketball and will be provided by Holy Trinity. Each team must provide their own clearly marked basketballs to use during warm ups and your scheduled practice time. Minor Officials Minor officials for scorekeepers will be provided by students and athletes from Holy Trinity. Please treat them professionally and respectfully. Venue Rules/Policy & Expectations It is incumbent upon all coaches and participants to be aware of ASAA Policy. Specifically for this event, player eligibility (pg 37-40), supervision policy (pg 43) and basketball policy (pg 79-89). “All competitions must be conducted with a high standard of courtesy, fair play and sportsmanship. All those involved share this responsibility�. (ASAA Policy Handbook) Grievance Committee The grievance committee will sit to deal with matters that occur during competition, including discipline/conduct issues or appeals that may arise from ejections. They will handle any other matters that arise that require dispute resolution. Members of the committee will include the tournament chairman, school administrator and an experienced member of our organizing committee.

General Venue Rules


-The sites are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please inform your teams to take care of their own personal belongings. -Basketballs are NOT to be used outside of gymnasiums, in the hallways, locker rooms or in any other school areas, in ANY of the venues. -Out of respect for competing teams and spectators, the ASAA believes that any uniform changing should occur in the changing rooms, or alternatively, athletes should come dressed to play. Sportsmanship Sportsmanship is vitally important and highly valued by the ASAA. A Sportsmanship Trophy & Banner will be awarded to the team that displays appropriate conduct & sportsmanship both individually and at a team level throughout the Championship. Pins will also be handed out throughout the Championship to individuals, coaches & spectators who display sportsmanship in their words & actions. A Sportsmanship Committee will be at each of the sites to select recipients of the ASAA’s sportsmanship pin. Sportsmanship Pin Award Sportsmanship pins may be given to individuals who exhibit outstanding displays of integrity, fair play and good sportsmanship. Sportsmanship pins may be given to players, coaches, parents and spectators. Recipients of sportsmanship pins should show some or many of the following characteristics: Players should: o Conduct themselves in a positive nature/manner before, during and after the game o Offer positive feedback to opponents during the game o Shake hands before and after the game o Be courteous, polite and friendly o Show good sportsmanship during the game o Show concern, respect or empathy for an opponent Spectators should: o Consistently give positive feedback to players and others o Welcome opponents o Present positive comments before, during and after the game o Be helpful to others (i.e. willingly offer information about the game, score, scheduling, venue locations, etc. to onlookers)


Discipline and Misconduct Breaches of the ASAA Code of Ethics are treated seriously, and as host, [we] are required to report any breaches to the ASAA office where action may occur. A portion of the ASAA Code of Ethics states, “Any conduct, including, but not limited to ejections, fighting and drugs and alcohol use, that results in dishonor to the athlete, the team, the school or the ASAA will not be tolerated.� (pg 27-34) Awards Ceremony Awards Ceremony and medal presentations will take place after the Bronze Medal Game and after the Gold Medal Game. Only teams playing in the medal games are required to take part in the ceremony. Medal presentations will take place at the venue where the game is played. Streaming Games Live Online Holy Trinity has acquired the technology to allow us to stream games out of each of the Main Gymnasiums. Please advertise this to your school, athletes, parents and relatives who are not able to make it for the tournament. http://www.sportscanada.tv/ Other Notes All Schools are smoke-free facilities. Smoking by athletes, parents and spectators is prohibited anywhere on campus grounds.
