FOTECAP zircon IP 4800 Series Identical Profile Photopolymer Capillary Film
These are new Diazo-free photopolymer capillary films. IP stands for „Identical Profile“. Using mesh numbers from 32-70 to 180-31 allow the control of the film thickness over the mesh. These FOTECAP capillary films can be used on polyester or metal mesh with the standard transfer method. As an alternative the indirect/direct method can be used together with the transfer emulsion FOTECOAT 1850. This results in an improved adhesion to the mesh plus a higher print resistance and increases at the same time the film thickness over the mesh.
info.fotec@saati.com
FOTECAP 4815 IP, 4825 IP, 4850 IP and 4880 IP are solvent resistant. They have extremely good adhesion characteristics. The exposure time is very short. A high definition and resolution result. Storing is elongated compared with a Diazo capillary film. The surface is semi-mat and not sticky. If the traditional water adhering method is used a low Rz-value results. This can even be improved by the use of the indirect/ direct method with FOTECOAT 1850. The stencil can be printed with UV ink too. These films produce perfect stencils for the printing of 3 or 4 colour jobs. It is recommended to use FOTECAP 4815 IP on mesh numbers from 140–180 t/cm, 4825 IP from mesh numbers 90–140 t/cm, 4850 IP from 43-110 t/cm and 4880 IP from 32–90 t/cm The light sensitivity is between 350 and 400 nm. Metal halide lamps are ideal for the exposure of these FOTECAP capillary films. It is always recommended to make a test exposure with a step wedge to find out the best possible exposure time. With an Akticop 3500 S metal halogen lamp, at 100 cm distance and a bulb of approx. 100 operating hours, the exposure time for 4815 IP and 4825 IP on white polyester is between 15 and 25 seconds and on yellow polyester 25 – 35 seconds. On steel mesh the time increases to 35 – 50 seconds. FOTECAP 4850 IP on 43 to 80 white has an exposure time of 30 – 40 seconds, FOTECAP 4880 needs 60 seconds. The decoating is trouble-free. The usual chemicals can be used. There is no Diazo in the film and therefore less stains appear after the decoating. These FOTECAP films are blue and result on yellow mesh in a greenish stencil. The light sensitivity of these FOTECAP films is high and therefore stencil making has to be done under safety yellow light, without influence of daylight.

Thick Photopolymer Film
1. Description TECNO Film features a specially formulated red pure photopolymer emulsion, which ensures fast exposure times and great printing results Emulsion is coated on a polyethylene coated photo base paper with a silky matte finish. This allows for easy handling before and after exposure Easy-release paper provides stencil with anti-stick surface and minimizes adhesion to glass during exposure. It also resists pick-up of flashed ink films
info.fotec@saati.com
TECNO film can simply be applied to a wet screen, or laminated with backing emulsion, such as FOTECOAT 1834 or 1833, for increased durability TECNO film saves time and enables fast and easy production of thick stencils with guaranteed thickness and exposure times

5. handling the film The film should be handled under low wattage tungsten or yellow fluorescent lighting. The film should be returned to the container after cutting off the required length Do not kink the film as this could affect adhesion to the mesh. The film should be handled wearing light cotton or lint-free gloves to avoid contact with the emulsion surface Do not allow the film surface to come in contact with water 6. mesh preparation All new mesh should be abraded vigorously on the printing side with FOTECHEM 2023 before use. FOTECHEM 2025 should be used to provide an even water break and to improve adhesion. 7. Adhering to mesh Several methods can be employed to adhere Saati Chemicals TECNO film.
info.fotec@saati.com
Capillary film method 1. Remove all dust from the emulsion side of the film. 2. Spray the mesh with water and wipe the excess water from the perimeter of the frame to avoid water drops running into the adhered film. 3. Contact the leading edge of the film onto the top of the wet vertical screen and allow the wet screen’s capillary action to adhere the film to the mesh. 4. Remove excess moisture from the inside of the screen with a lightweight window squeegee. 5. Wipe excess water from the perimeter of the frame with an absorbent cloth then proceed to drying. Direct/ indirect method 1. Place the film emulsion side up on a raised surface. 2. Place substrate side of screen onto film. 3. Apply a bead of FOTECOAT 1834 or 1833 to the top edge of the film. 4. Squeegee the emulsion several times until film is completely adhered to mesh. Backing with Emulsion Method 1. Mount the TECNO to the mesh using the Capillary Film Method 2. Allow screen to dry and remove backing 3. Apply two coats of FOTECOAT 1834 or 1833 to the squeegee side of the screen and proceed to the screen-drying step For all above methods, the screen can be further reinforced by applying two coats of emulsion to squeegee side of screen after initial drying. 8. drying the screen The screen can be dried with cold or warm air, maximum 35°C (100°F). Thorough drying is essential for optimum results When the support has been peeled off, continue drying for a few minutes to ensure the film is completely dry Drying should be in either dark or yellow light conditions.

9. exposure It is always recommended to perform a stepped exposure test to determine optimum exposure. As a guideline, refer to times listed in exposure time chart The preferred test method is with a backing emulsion coated onto squeegee side of screen Optimum exposure is indicated as the shortest time that fully cures through the film and leaves a hardened layer of emulsion on the squeegee side Time in seconds, using 5 kW metal halide lamp @ 1.5m (40”) distance

10. washout/development Wet both sides of screen with a strong, finely divided spray of water and continue washing out from substrate side until all image areas are fully open Rinse both sides of screen and dry thoroughly before use A properly exposed and developed screen should not exhibit scumming or feel slimy on the squeegee side The use of warm water will decrease washout time 11. reclaiming After printing, scrape excess ink from screen and then clean stencil with FOTECHEM 2090 or another screen wash. Rinse screen, then strip stencil with: FOTECHEM 2004 liquid FOTECHEM 2005 paste FOTECHEM 2042 concentrated liquid decoater (1:30) for machine coating FOTECHEM 2048 is a more efficient liquid concentrate (1:30) for decoating FOTECHEM 2044 powder (to be dissolved in water) 12. ghost remover Remove ghost image with a second application of FOTECHEM 2090, followed by high pressure wash. For stubborn stains it is necessary to apply a caustic haze remover, such as FOTECHEM 2089.
