In welke mate geef je het object dat je creëert, de mogelijkheid zichzelf vorm te geven? Over Robert van Embricqs Robert van Embricqs is afgestudeerd aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam (richting architectuur) met zijn Rising Chair design en Shift & Merge Pavillion design. Na het afstuderen heeft hij nieuwe technieken weten te ontwikkelen die hij tijdens het ontwerp van deze twee producten heeft ontdekt en toegepast op verschillende meubels. In zijn onderzoek raakte van Embricqs gefascineerd door het esthetisch aangename, maar toch complexe van de natuurlijke vorm. Zijn inspiratie vindt hij in ontwerpen in de botten-structuur, plant transformatie en beweging. In elk nieuw onderzoek blijft een specifieke vraag altijd aanwezig: ‘in welke mate geef je het object dat je creëert, de mogelijkheid zichzelf vorm te geven?’ Dit leidde tot een minimale design aanpak die het beste kan worden omschreven als een nauwe samenwerkingsverband tussen de ontwerper en zijn materiaal. Zijn ontwerp aanpak gaf hem diverse onderscheidingen voor de Rising Chair, zoals de Red Dot Design Award voor Best Concept en Woodchallenge, voor zowel Publiek & Jury prijs. The Rising Chair is opgenomen in het Nationaal Centrum voor Beeldende Kunst in Frankrijk en de Rising Table is bekroond met de Fubiz Award 3de prijs.

Rising Table [2]t Toelichting De Rising Table maakt deel uit van de Rising-formule, wat betekent dat ook ditmaal de basis van het ontwerp een plat oppervlak is dat transformeert in een stijlvol vormgegeven gebruiksvoorwerp. Het was van belang het materiaal zoveel mogelijk de kans te geven te ‘spreken’. Op die manier kreeg de Rising Table volledig de kans tijdens het ontwerpproces de eigen vorm te bepalen, zonder uit het oog te verliezen dat het uiteindelijk een toepasbaar gebruiksvoorwerp zou worden. Elke insnede die is gemaakt op het platte oppervlak, heeft een wezenlijk, systematisch herhaalde verbuiging van de houten latjes tot gevolg in het hart van de tafel. Meubels met een ‘obese look’ Over Lambert Kamps Lambert Kamps is kunstenaar en ontwerper te Groningen waar hij zijn eigen studio heeft sinds 1999. Lambert studeerde mode en design voordat hij in 1994 aan de kunstacademie Groningen ging studeren. Zijn werk bevindt zich op het grensvlak van kunst, architectuur en design en wordt gepresenteerd in galeries, op beurzen en tijdens plaatsgebonden evenementen.

Turn Table 32 [8]t Toelichting De Turn Table 32 is het eerste ontwerp binnen het concept ‘design dat uitdaagt tot bewegen’. Samen met het idee dat veranderbare objecten interessant zijn om te ontdekken en mensen regelmatig vernieuwing zoeken, ontstond het ontwerp van een veranderbaar tafelblad. De combinatie van hout en staal in de Turn Table is het resultaat van de samenwerking tussen Tessa en Esther. Tessa werkt van jongs af aan al veel met staal en Esther werkt graag met hout, vanwege de warme natuurlijke uitstraling van het materiaal. Zij merken een trend in interieur design van geometrische vormen en grafische tekeningen en zien dat de driehoek zich uitstekend leent voor de toepassing in de Turn Table en het creëren van talloze grafische ontwerpen. About The Turn Table 32 is the first design within the concept ‘design that will challenge you to move’. Together with the idea that changeable objects are interesting and people are always looking for renewal, they developed a changeable table top. The combination of wood and steel in the Turn Table is the result of the cooperation between Tessa and Esther. Tessa is working with steel since she was young. And Esther loves to work with wood because of its warm and natural appearance. They notice a trend in interior design of geometric shapes and graphic drawings, and conclude that the triangle is ideal for application in the Turn Table and the creation of numerous graphic designs.

About Since 2010 Tonneke Sengers is working on ‘mobile murals’. Tonneke Sengers: ‘I found a way to make mobile works, which are very close to the design of my murals’. The design of this wall sculptures ’Up the Wall’ is first drawn on the computer and then carved in aluminium by a laser cutter. The open-worked aluminium is giving an important role to the wall behind and the space between them. Composition and colour are accurately defined to bring forward the intended dialogue between illusion and reality. The counter-shape becomes an interval in which the effects of Sengers interventions resonate. They form, indirectly, a new and often surprising reality. It looks like Sengers' work is coming to you in two ways. You have the idea of being able to decipher something and at the same time you can disappear without effort in the space the work displays to you.
