PROJECT # 2: STATICS OF PARTICLE & RIGID BODY – MATHEMATICAL PROGRAMMING A.

Project Outcome: By the end of the project, the students should be able to: 1)

Analyze the force resultant problem of a particle and solve it using mathematical programming software.

2)

Analyze the moment resultant problem of a rigid body and solve it using mathematical programming software.

3)

Analyze the rigid body equilibrium problem and solve it using mathematical programming software.

B.

Project Materials: In order to complete the projects, the resources required are:

C.

1)

Computer

2)

Statics book – diagram of supports for rigid bodies.

3)

Excel for Engineers book

4)

Microsoft Excel

Project Performance Standards: The performance standards required for the projects: 1)

Submit Microsoft excel file containing the solution of problem within 4 weeks from date assigned. Late assignment will not be accepted.

2)

Successful completion of all problem and meeting all the criteria as below: i. Answer each problem on separate worksheets. ii. Each problem shall have its own pictures representing the problem. For problem 3, the picture must have support reactions drawn on it. iii. Ensure all forces and/or dimensions as variables which can be keyed-in by users. However, for submitting purposes, these variables shall contain the value represented in the problem. iv. Show equations (force resultant, moment resultant or equilibrium) as necessary. For problem 3, matrix equations must be shown. v. Show final answers. vi. Ensure all graphs are properly identified such as title, axes identification and its units are shown.

3)

MM 09

50% of the problems have correct answers and solution.
