Education BA in English from Coastal Carolina University, 2007  Won the 2007 Paul Rice Poetry Broadside Series contest and completed a chapbook thesis in formal poetry. Masters of Library and Information Studies to be completed 5/2012 at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Classes of Interest  Web Design and Usability, Database Design, Emerging Technological Trends, Information Literacy, The Academic Library, Science and Technology Resources, Social Marketing. Related Research  Conducted marketing research and needs assessment for LIS student’s involvement in professional activities. Results were given to the LIS department for use as requested.  Conducted research on the use of Facebook as a tool to reach new and existing users. Research led to poster presentation at NCLA.

Library Experience Reference Assistant, Kimbel Library, Coastal Carolina University, 01/2007-05/2007  Worked in reference and circulation.  Read assigned articles and conducted research about the profession for a weekly write up and distributed throughout the department.  Assisted with electronics, including computers, microfilm machines, printers, copiers, and scanners.  Created the Library’s Wikipedia page.  Updated the in-house subject search database.  Assisted in relocating the reference section.  Employment was the result of a successful internship. Student Assistant, Special Collections and University Archives, Jackson Library, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, 09/2010-05/2012  Researched local and university history.  Practiced basic preservation and conservation techniques.  Processed, organized, and preserved the historical photograph collection. 

Teaching Experience Student Consultant, Writing Center, Coastal Carolina University 9/2006-5/2007  Prepared handouts for teaching and reference on common topics as well as lessons for small groups on common writing issues.  Assisted students with the writing, research, and proofreading process.  Assisted students with citations and references in all citation styles. Tutor, Athletic Department, Coastal Carolina University 10/2006-5/2007 Tutored English, history, writing, and research to student athletes. Managed students and their educational goals who were at risk of losing eligibility due to academic performance. Teacher, CDI holdings, Inc., Daegu, South Korea, 8/2007-4/2008  Taught English as a foreign language to middle and high School.  Independently tutored high school students with interest in attending American universities with a focus on both academics and cultural exchange.  Classroom and time management.  Parent and community relations. 

Resident Advisor and Desk Assistant, Office of Residence Life, Coastal Carolina University, 5/2004-5/2007  Planned programs for residents in a co-ed dormitory.  Assisted with lockouts, power-outages, and maintenance requests.  Mediated roommate and hall conflicts.  Enforced rules and regulations and worked collaboratively with co-workers to resolve situations within the building that needed attention.  Collaborated with campus police in situations that warranted their participation and to ensure safety and security of residents.
