Where Did Daddy Go? By Evelyn Atieno
Hi! My name is Jesse This is my father. He’s the best.
We play sports together everyday. He always lets me win. I hope to be a good player like him one day
He picks me up from school everday and buys me ice-cream
My dad is so awesome!
But now my dad is gone, the police arrested him. They took him back to his country.
I play alone now.
I have to wait at school longer, There’s nobody to pick me up.
We can’t afford our house anymore. We have to move somewhere smaller.
I miss my dad. When will I ever see him again.

Evelyn Atieno, born April 25,1997. In first grade I was already writ ing in a journal about my daily life. By sixteen I started my own online magazine called Affinity for Life; it’s a magazine that tackles social issues affecting teenagers while celebrating the amazing life we live. The magazine now is read in over 100 countries. At eighteen I became a teen media journalist at ABC 2 new s in Baltimore,Maryland. Throughout my life I have been a firm believer in justice and under standing. When I came up with the idea for this book, I knew I wanted it to make a difference, I knew I wanted a child out there to relate to it. It’s a book that I needed four years ago when my father was deported. I believe this is a conversation that needs to began with every ethnic group because deportation affects every group.
Dedicated to Fred Otieno Jr.
To find-out more about deportation log on to wherediddaddygo.com. A book pertaining to this topic is very important right now because of the national debate on immigration. I am a victim of the immigration laws; When I was thirteen my dad’s visa expired and he had to return to his country. I am eighteen-years-old now and it still affects me deeply. I graduated this month and he wasn’t there to see it; it’s expensive to travel to Kenya every month and my brother is growing up without a father. My greatest hope for this book is to show the world that immigrants and foreigners are human too. They have feelings and families. I also encourage children to send in their stories! It would be amazing to hear your experiences
