Great Scotland Yard Hotel to Launch No.1 The Townhouse

Next month (April), Great Scotland Yard Hotel will launch No.1 The Townhouse, a standalone private residence situated just next door to the hotel on London’s Great Scotland Yard. Having undergone a full restoration, the Grade II listed townhouse will be the first of its kind, providing guests the seclusion and discretion of a private residence whilst benefiting from the service of the next door 5-star hotel.

Launching on Monday 19th April 2021, the five storey, Georgian-fronted townhouse will offer guests over 2000 sqft of pure luxury and an exclusive London address of No.1 Great Scotland Yard. The building has been thoughtfully restored to celebrate the hallmark features of this classic British Townhouse whilst reflecting an interior scheme which tastefully balances traditional and modern influences. Moments away from Covent Garden’s upscale shopping district and several of London’s most acclaimed restaurants, No.1 The Townhouse will be the perfect residence for those looking for a discreet, central London abode. welcomed with a complimentary deluxe seasonal hamper from nearby Fortnum & Mason and greeted for in-house check in by the hotel team, who are available around the clock for the duration of their stay. Making themselves at home, guests can opt to relax in the drawing room or basement den with original log burners, oversized sunken sofas, and Bang & Oflusen TVs. With space to spread out, a private 10-seater dining room offers the perfect space to entertain family and friends. No.1 The Townhouse offers guests a range of catering options ranging from a full meal service – which offers a choice of menus prepared by the hotel’s in-house chefs. In addition, guests looking to enjoy the comforts of the residence, an option to have shelves and fridges packed with fresh, seasonal fruit and snacks is also available, the perfect way to make guests feel immediately at home.

Two ensuite double bedrooms, both with roll-top copper baths complete the 2nd and 3rd floors, which offer unrivalled views across the rooftops of central London. Toiletries for the townhouse are sourced from iconic London perfumery Floris, whom have been specially appointed to supply the new residence.

Whilst No.1 The Townhouse is completely private, access to the 5-star hotel facilities of Great Scotland Yard hotel next door is accessible through a short access corridor. This allows guests with direct access to a suite of services including 24-hour room service, their dedicated fitness centre, afternoon tea at The Parlour, snacks and aperitif from The 40 Elephants lounge bar and late-night drinks at Sibin, their secluded private whiskey bar.

The hotel’s Chef will create a customised picnic for you from the menu to enjoy and if you wish they will provide a personal guide and suggestions of where to go. In the centre of the lake lies the tiny island of San Giulio, where you arrive to a staircase that leads to the Roman Basilica which houses some impressive art. Visitors are encouraged to walk through the alleys of the island on the ‘way of silence and meditation’. Many scholars and historians come to this island from all over the world to visit the ancient Romanesque Ambo (12th century pulpit). San Giulio is home to the cloistered nuns who inhabit the island for most of the year and who celebrate St Giulio’s day as a festival at the end of January. E-bike tours - Cycle the stunning landscapes, tour the lake and up to the mountains for breathtaking views of the area with tailor made e-bike tours on a Thok e-bike. There will be 3 itineraries, from adventurous to calm.

Walk around the historical village of Orta San Giulio Stroll around the beautiful village of Orta San Giulio. The village is part of the ‘Borghi Più belli d’Italia’ (the Italian circuit of small towns with strong historical and artistic interest). Here you will find the Piazza Motta and the Broletto. The village winds through narrow stone streets that reach the water. You can get to the villa from Casa Fantini either by car (15-minute drive or by a 10-minute boat ride).

season) - For food lovers, wine and food tours can be arranged. In just two hours from Casa Fantini you arrive in the land of wines and truffles. The Langhe, with its precious villages of Alba, Neive, Bergolo and Barolo, is the peak of a Food and Wine tour in the North of Italy.

Visit the sacred alpine mountains on the hill tops Immerse yourself in sacred history and visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Sacro Monte di Orta. This is part of the Sacred Alpine Mountains in the green woods on the top of a hill overlooking Lake Orta. Visit 21 chapels with frescoes and see 375 terracotta sculptures on the life of the Saint San Francesco d’Assisi.

Explore the lake in your own private boat with a delicious picnic packed by the chef (water skiing, rowing and fishing also available), or take a photography tour with a professional photographer who will teach you to look at Lake Orta through a photography lens, discovering the shades, details, reflections and shadows of the lake.

There are also nature walks through the trees of the Mottarone Park, visits to local design houses and e-biking, where you will take in the panoramic views from the Belvedere of Quarna to the Sacro Monte of Orta San Giulio.
