4-INGREDIENT CHRISTMAS FUDGE Make a delicious Christmas treat! INGREDIENTS • 500g white chocolate •2 00g sweetened
condensed milk • 100g dried cranberries • 80g pistachios INSTRUCTIONS • Line the base and sides of a 20cm square cake tin with baking paper. • Break the white chocolate into pieces and place into a small saucepan. • Add the condensed milk and cook, stirring, over a medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring regularly until the mixture is melted and smooth. • Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the cranberries and pistachios. Quickly stir combine. • Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin and place it into the fridge for a minimum of 8 hours (preferably overnight) to set. • Remove the fudge from the tin and cut into small pieces.
Hot tips! •U se a good-quality white chocolate. • Leave baking paper hanging over the sides of the tin to help remove the fudge once set. • It’s important to work quickly when adding the cranberries and pistachios and when pouring into a baking pan as the surface will begin to firm quite quickly. • This is a soft fudge recipe so it’s important to leave it for at least 8 hours or overnight to completely set.

CARER CONNECTIONS Edition 30 CARERS EVENTS TAKE OFF! With the recent lifting of restrictions, we are delighted to get together with our carers and hold carers events again! Our sites have been holding a number of amazing dinners, spa days, cruises and luncheons for our carers to reconnect after months of isolation. At Afford we recognise and celebrate the incredible role carers play in the lives of our clients and the community. It takes energy, dedication, strength and selflessness to be a primary carer. We understand that assisting individuals to achieve their goals extends beyond traditional disability supports. It also involves supporting the people around them. That’s why Afford across Australia regularly host carers events. Carers events provide families, friends and carers with the chance to come together to talk with Afford staff about disability supports relevant to their loved ones. These events are also an opportunity to socialise with others who have shared life experiences. “Carers function for Nowra/Worrigee group home and day program went really well today. Carers loved the fresh seafood and we found out why it’s called Pelican Point,” said District Manager for Illawarra and Goulburn, Kathy Bullock. Our Carer Support Program offers a wide range of opportunities to meet other carers and form new friendships in a relaxed and welcoming environment where they can share experiences and advice. We provide carers the opportunity to take some time-out for themselves and enjoy: • Therapeutic Massages • Yoga and Relaxation • NDIS Planning • Health and Wellbeing • Social Events Afford’s Carer Support Program supports over 600 carers, and we go above and beyond to support our clients, taking a holistic approach to assist families and carers maintain the best possible service for our clients. Looking after the well-being of our carers is important. Supporting carers means that every individual we support receives exceptional care throughout their life. When carers are well-rested, strategies and routines established by Afford can continue at home. We’ve created an Afford Carers Facebook page and encourage all Carers to join to stay connected with the Afford Carer Community. www.facebook.com/AffordCarers
