An Important Message From Our ADEs Staff Profile

This is a time to be proud of the work you do and the people you work with. Afford only continue to provide the amazing services we do, because of you. Our clients could not get through a time like this without your selfless dedication. We foster and promote a Teams and Tribes Culture, where everyone bands together to get the job done. We have all been working together to support each other and we must continue to provide support to our fellow Affordians. We want to recognise those staff that have offered up their shifts to other staff who have had their hours reduced. This is an example of the true Afford Way! We have also seen sites across our business, including our ADEs and Group Homes, open up their doors offering extra hours to staff from across our business. It’s tough times for everyone and now more than ever we need to let our Teams and Tribes mentality shine through, as we are all in this together.

Now more than ever, we need to stay positive and continue to provide our exceptional services and supports, while prioritising the health and mental wellbeing of staff and clients, which remains the top priority at Afford. You are never alone and any Affordian who needs assistance is reminded to reach out to those around you. We encourage you all to contact your Team Leader, District Manager or our CEO, Steven Herald, with any queries or concerns that you have if you are struggling or need support. AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR ADES Recently our five ADE factories, Minto, Ingleburn, Prestons, Marrickville and Minchinbury launched their very own COVID-19 safety videos. These videos were created as a way to help promote good practice and cleanliness in the factories. They are a simple way to share and demonstrate how we are implementing steps to keep everyone safe at Afford.

Our supported employees and factory managers were excited to participate in the project and have also been taking the initiative in encouraging everyone to implement and follow safety steps. The health and safety of staff and clients remains our number one focus at Afford. We have all been working together to support each other through a challenging period. Our ADEs have made it a priority at all sites to introduce a range of safety measures to protect our staff and help individuals understand the importance of personal hygiene. The project has been a great success in helping our supported employees learn and understand these new policies and procedures, many of the lifestyle assistants who have been recently helping out at our ADEs have also been assisting with implementing social distancing measures between our supported employees. Supported employees at the Minchinbury ADE wanted to share their own messages to help stop the spread, by posting their selfies with “Stay At Home” signs and sharing on their social media pages. The images were very popular with many people liking and sharing them on Facebook. The safety videos were also well recieved with over 2,000 views on the Afford YouTube channel. “Looks like you’re on top of things. Well done team.” Commented one viewer, “This is so awesome! Great work guys!” said another. Through the use of social media, we are able to not just tell everyone what we are doing but show them just how much we care about keeping everyone safe. The videos can be viewed via: • Facebook: www.facebook.com/pg/Afford/videos/ • YouTube: www.youtube.com/channel/UC3PfcqVQNSqtjsoswBxYtfA We are so proud to see our ADEs come together and implement these procedures to keep everyone safe through during these extraordinary times.

Reminder!

Staff are reminded about the importance of temperature testing all clients, staff and visitors to every site. When someone arrives on site their temperature has to be tested straight away. Please remember the importance of washing your hands, during COVID-19 it is particularly important to wash your hands after you have been in a public place. For example after you have touched an item or surface that may be frequently touched by other people, such as door handles, tables, gas pumps, shopping carts, or electronic cashier registers/screens, etc. You should also remember the importance of not touching your face during this time. Please wash your hands before touching your eyes, nose, or mouth because that’s how germs enter our bodies.
