Are You Ready To Step Up!?! Launching our very own “Step Up” Flyer – Afford Leadership Development Program (see page 3). This is a follow up from the recent “Step Up” Announcement that consisted of staff who are hoping to Step Up into either Team Leader or District Manager positions within Client Services in 2016. From a fleeting thought to a full fledge development program that includes opportunities for staff across the organisation to step up in various roles with support from HR and other departments across the business. Bridget Challis from the HR team is hosting the first of our Step up Team Training Days on Thursday, 28 January in the Head Office Boardroom. We have put together a day of training that is designed to assist each staff member to reach their potential in a Step Up role. The training will cover: •

Introduction to Management

Budgeting / Finance

NAV/ Payroll

CIMS

Business Improvement

HR procedures and an overview on encouraging team work

Also invited to attend is some of our Team Leaders within Client Services and Raffles team who have recently taken up positions. No matter what level of proficiency our staff have, this training is designed to improve each participant’s leadership skills. We look forward to welcoming 12 of our leaders of the future next week and plan to make this training standard to the Step Up Teams.

Great Day For A Fish At Penrith

IT Support Officer Minchinbury Head Office

Recently Penrith Day Program participated in their weekly community fishing program held at the Regatta Centre in Penrith, enabling our clients to learn the art first hand.

Favourite Song: Run alone- 360

This week was a huge success for clients Robert and Cameron who put the skills they’ve learnt from previous weeks into action catching 1 fish each!

Favourite Movie: Snatch Favourite Hobbies: Riding motorbikes, soccer and cooking Favourite Foods: Peking duck and traditional Laos

All clients who attend the program love learning all about the different techniques of fishing and perfecting the art, we look forward to hearing about many more successful fishing adventures in the future!

Congratulating ELMO Extraordinaire’s

If you could be an animal what would you be: White tiger What is your dream holiday destination: Uganda- Africa to do a gorilla trek If you had the power what would you change about the world: To stop media manipulation What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you: There are to many to list If you had to teach something what would you teach: How to cook Something no one knows about me: I lived in Outback NT for 3 months

We would like to congratulate all our fantastic staff members who have taken the time to sharpen up their skills by completing each of their learning modules. Our new Elmo program has been quite a success since going live in November 2015 with Afford staff completing over an astonishing 2,000 modules. ELMO is an interactive e-learning program which assists staff to understand policies and the correct application of procedures, guidelines, tools and templates, so we encourage all staff who have yet to complete their modules to hone your skills in ELMO’s world. If you have any issues logging in or have any other enquiries please don’t hesitate to contact Bridget Challis on 02 8805 3755 or email bridget.challis@afford.com.au.

‘Official Turning Of The Soil’ For Accommodation Clients Recently our Accommodation clients participated in the ‘Official Turning of the Soil’ presentation, unveiling new shovel designs decorated by each client which will be proudly displayed in their new group homes.

The clients designed the pictorial shovel and gave their own meaning to the drawing that they created including courage, freedom and dreams come true, to personally symbolise the move to their new life. Certificates for their achievements were presented to our Accommodation clients by CEO Steven Herald and Angie Hatchman in front of family and friends at the Family and Christmas day celebrations. Congratulations to the clients on the new designed shovels, they will all look very lovely in the new homes!
