Page 4 This week marked the Afford leadership conference held at Bankstown Sports club, discussing the great success we have made within the past 10 months also outlining Afford’s new direction as we move forward into the NDIS. The two day conference featured a breath-taking display of our new banners, and table decorations along with presentations from Afford staff including CEO Steven Herald, Marketing and Promotions Officer Michelle Flynn and Business Development Manager Christina Emmanouel along with a number of incredible guest speakers including the founder of Salesforce Kevin Panozza, NDIA representatives Mary Hawkins and Tessa Duncan, founder of Brainpower Training Nina Sunday and a real life experience story from mother of a child with disability, Kelly Page. This was a great experience for all who attended as everyone walked out of the conference feeling a strong sense of belief about the positive direction in which we are heading with the NDIS and all look forward to being apart of the future success we build as a team through all our great services.

JAM-Pact Performance Recently our Campbelltown and Canley Vale Day Programs attended the 2016 JAM-PACT end of year concert at Campbelltown Civic Centre. P.A.C.T (Performing Arts Community Team) is a Disability Services Australia initiative. The Team’s main goal is to assist people with a disability to organise, host & perform variety concerts. The team is managed by Tim Dickson, elected staff & customers from DSA. Clients and staff from Campbelltown and Canley Vale learnt a choreographed dance routine which was facilitated by Jeanette from JBDA (Jeanette Briggs Dance Academy). This program also gave the clients and staff an opportunity to socialise with one another for lunch after the dance program. The clients were all nervous before they went up on the big stage but as soon as “Uptown Funk” came on they all performed wonderfully. They all had an opportunity throughout the routine to step forward and perform a small solo. This gave them the chance to express themselves and show the audience their fantastic abilities which saw some old school ‘b-boy style’ moves including some pushups from Paul White, to some more modern hip hop from Melissa Huntsman. All dressed in their brand new ‘AFFORD’ polo shirts they looked amazing on stage, well done guys!
