Afford Getaways, Providing Breaks To Remember
In this Issue Page 1 • Afford Getaways, Providing Breaks To Remember
Page 2 • Staff Profile • Resident, Donna, Talks About Cherrywood • Connecting With Our Carers Afford Getaways has been providing some wonderful and memorable holidays for internal and external clients over the past two months. Our California trip of a lifetime was so successful the clients still can’t stop talking about their trip. 3 lucky clients visited Disneyland, Universal Studios, did a bus tour of Beverly Hills and celebrity houses and walked the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Lifestyle Assistant Yvonne Droulias helped make dreams come true by supporting our clients on this international getaway. Last week our Coral Sea Cruise getaway returned. The five day trip departed with nine holiday makers and three Lifestyle Assistants who were blessed with blue skies and temperatures in the mid 20’s for the entire trip, which is pretty good for winter! The getaways group were treated to some fantastic on board activities such as stage shows, live bands, pool and deck games and five different eateries where we are told has the most amazing food! They even let their hair down with a few tasty cocktails. The group also had the opportunity to take a day trip to Moreton Island to explore the beautiful sandy beaches and show off their dance moves to a reggae band. A big thanks to Lifestyle Assistants Donna Wagonette, Faviola Poblete and Don Bosco for supporting our clients on another fantastic Afford Getaway. Upcoming holidays include a Gold Coast Adventure, Phillip Island Getaway and Hunter Valley Lights, so stay tuned for expressions of interest to support our clients on these awesome getaways.

Ashfield Riding To Success Every week Ashfield Lifestyle Centre run a bike riding program which is attended by clients from various sites including Belmore and Canley Vale. The program aims to teach clients how to safely ride a bike through public streets, as well as essential equipment to remain safe when on the roads. Clients look forward to seeing their friends from other sites each week and enjoy social time over a BBQ lunch prepared by our staff and clients. We would like to acknowledge the role of Canley Vale staff member, Hugo. Hugo has been a fantastic help with this program, particularly the BBQ. The Ashfield staff and clients prepare everything for the BBQ in the morning and Hugo so very kindly cooks the BBQ every week to give the staff a break who have been preparing food all morning. A great example of Afford staff going above and beyond for our clients and the fantastic teamwork between sites, which makes this program so great.
