Afford Get Their Groove On

On the 1st December Afford partnered with Burwood City Council for the GroovAbility Festival at Burwood Park celebrating International Day of People with Disability. The festival featured fun-filled entertainment with films, a free bbq lunch, photo booth, airbrush tattoos, face paint, hands on experience with Australian wildlife and of course the main headline, many groovy dance performances from our Belmore, Ashfield, Green Valley, Chipping Norton and Campbelltown Lifestyle Centres. The fabulous dance moves were practiced each week by Jeanette Briggs from Jeanette Briggs Dance Academy at various Afford Lifestyle Centres. All clients who attended had a great time celebrating with everyone while participating in the festivities, making plenty more great memories to share with their families and friends. Thank you to staff member Nancy Elnajar for partnering with Burwood City Council to provide such a memorable day for everyone who attended, in particular our clients. We would also like to thank Jeanette Briggs for all her efforts and hard work providing fun dance classes each week for our clients and to Marrickville ADE, Belmore, Ashfield, Green Valley, Chipping Norton and Campbelltown Lifestyle Centres for joining the celebrations.

Belmore Awarded Christmas Treat

Every week a group of clients from Belmore Lifestyle Centre participate in the Meals on Wheels program. Meals on Wheels is a company that delivers meals to individuals at home who are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals. The clients really enjoy interacting with the people in need and the people are always happy to see the clients. As a result of all their hard and generous work, the clients were invited to the Meals on Wheels Christmas lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day and the clients enjoyed a nice meal and socialised with the other great volunteers. As you can see in the picture they all had a great time!

Commit To Be Fit With Afford As part of our Employer of Choice initiative, we have already commenced on-site staff massages; building onto our commitment to the Health and Wellness of all our staff, we are conducting a survey to see if we can partner with Fitness Passport to host a gym program. The program aims to encourage staff to keep fit and active by attending a gym or leisure centre in your chosen area. As an Employer of Choice Afford will be reimbursing part of all single membership costs associated with this program, with the final price reflecting on numbers of staff participating in this program. In order to achieve the best possible outcome we are asking all staff to complete a survey by the 9th of December which will be sent by Nikita Gupta shortly. Filling out this survey will ensure that we provide not only the cheapest possible deal for staff but also the most convenient gym locations for everyone in your chosen area.
