Last week Afford took advantage of the client free week to better equip our staff for the challenges facing the disability sector in 2017, holding a frontline conference at Cabravale Diggers Club. Building on the success of last year’s conference, this year saw over 200 staff in attendance on a day featuring presentations from CEO, Steve Herald and managers within the many other services of Afford. The week also featured two days training around the NDIS and safe work practices, which the staff who attended thoroughly enjoyed. A very big thank you goes to all staff involved in managing staff rosters, creating presentations, presenting, helping set up, bringing in posters, food and support etc. With a lot of current and new providers including Kingswood TAFE on board, the conference in July 2017 should be an even bigger and better event!

Staff Cruisy Christmas Party
On 22nd December Afford Staff had the opportunity to attend the Christmas Cruise party around the Sydney Harbour. George Awarded For Winning Efforts George was nominated and won client of the year for Chipping Norton Lifestyle Centre 2016. He was so proud upon receiving his award that his mum stated ‘he bragged about it to everyone when he got home’. George has achieved a lot this year with staff seeing great improvements in his participation in all programs and social interaction with his peers. All the staff at Chipping Norton are so proud of George and cannot wait to see what the New Year will bring for him and his further achievements! Well Done George!
