Page 4 • Afford Fight Flu With A Jab • Afford Selfies • Have A Laugh Lurnea clients avoided this extreme heat by recently enjoying an air conditioned ride to Sydney Harbour to check out the beautiful waterside sights Clients and staff were excited to achieve some firsts, travelling under and over the Harbour Bridge, stopping to enjoy the view of the Opera House and enjoying a few laughs with friends along the way.

The highlight of the day was popping by Kirribilli House to check out where the PM lives and say “Hi” to the security guard. They all took a stroll under the Harbour Bridge excited to see the big smiling face at Luna Park and the views of the city from the other side of the harbour. Next time the group has decided to hit the water and take a ferry ride.

Cooking Up Healthy Habits

If you could be an animal what would you be: An eagle.

What is your dream holiday destination: Maldives.

If you had the power what would you change about the world: That no-one could tell a lie.

Clients at Oran Park are aiming to kickstart the year with the goal to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Together with the support of staff, they search for healthy and tasty recipes to cook at their weekly cooking program each Thursday.

On the menu this week a healthy cheese pasta with salad, which they all prepared and cooked together. “It tasted yummy and we wanted to share that amazing experience with everyone”.

Summer Splash At Cherrywood

What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you: Receiving flowers… flowers make me happy.

If you had to teach something what would you teach: Common sense if it could be taught.

Something no one knows about me: My background is Indian and Australian only.

It has been a scorcher week, with the temperatures rising above 40 degrees. The residents at Cherrywood had the right idea and cooled off with an afternoon swim.

Residents and staff had a pleasant afternoon in the pool splashing around and playing water games throwing the ball around, floating on pool noodles and body surfing on a giant inflatable thong.

As more residents returned home from work or their lifestyle centres, they also joined in the fun and cooled off with a nice swim before dinner!

Afford Fight Flu With A Jab

It is once again flu vaccination season at Afford. The rollout of flu vaccinations to all our employees is part of our Employer of Choice initiatives, and we had a very strong take up on this offering last year.

We are hoping that this year, we have more of our Afford family taking up the offer of free flu vaccinations across our various sites.

This year, the vaccination is the Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine (QIV) which aims at giving even broader protection than the old Trivalent vaccine by providing protection against one extra strain of influenza.

Please advise your manager if you wish to put your name down for vaccination immediately to secure a date.
